About Me

I am a curious and friendly individual looking to learn and grow through meeting new people, places and experiences.
My background in education is mainly scientific but I have understood that I have an artistic temperament and creativity is an integral part of who I am.
My life revolves around good friendships, travelling plans, music, art, film, nature, books and most of all creating positive interactions with everyone I encounter. I am a strong believer that it is important to keep taking in the world around you and remain sensitive to it, not letting certain capitalist values such as personal success take over your life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am here to participate in a positively social and engaging way of seeking accommodation. I find it very important to have the opportunity to meet locals whenever you travel, since it is a much more authentic and enriching experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music is very eclectic, it really depends on the stage of life I am in and how I feel. Lately I have been getting more into world music (Joao Gilberto, Fatoumata Diawara or Baden Powell) but I also like electronic music (Tycho, Four Tet or Flying Lotus), jazz/soul (Nina Simone, Ezra Collective or Erykah Badu) and some hip hop/r&b (IAMDDB, Princess Nokia or Frank Ocean)

Some of my favourite books are Better Angels of Our Nature by Steven Pinker, Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, Island by Aldous Huxley, Ways of Seeing by John Berger and A Vindication of Women Rights by Mary Wollstonecraft.

In terms of movies, I love Mustang, Capernaum, The Lobster, Florida Project and A bout de souffle.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have lived in the heart of the Amazon forest for a whole month after my first degree.

I can teach Portuguese, English or Maths. I also am quite good at cooking, painting and photography. Also have notions in farming, administration, nutrition and nature conservation.
