CURRENT MISSION
Build a nice life.
ABOUT ME
I am an engineer and a science nerd. I love nature, especially things like mountains, deep forests, seashore, rain and thunder. I think human society and culture is also part of nature and I like to observe it from outside. I like urban cityscape, routes and means of transportation, the diversity of people and organization of society.
I like to walk around, preferably without any strict plans. I used hitch-hike a bit and I've had two adventures in India. It would be nice to travel more, but I got two young kids (-04 & -06) and a house, so can't do anything too extreme at the moment. Well, it ain't too bad to be with kids and see how they grow up. Actually it's pretty fascinating. And I entertain myself with wacky business ideas I try to develope.
Recently I became active in politics. I'm chair of local chapter of the Pirate Party in Finland.
PHILOSOPHY
"This world is but a canvas to our imaginations." - Henry David Thoreau
"Youth is happy because it has the ability to see beauty. Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old." - Franz Kafka
"If an agent has knowledge that one of its actions will lead to one of its goals, then the agent will select that action." - Allen Newell
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'll make the guest room ready, so that I can open it for couch surfers for the summer! :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Not much experience for couch surfing. I've done some hitchhiking when I was younger and that was a nice way to meet people, very friendly and helpful people out there.

Music, Movies, and Books
music: Mostly electronic, I like new sounds and new beats. I seldomly listen to lyrics (words are over-valued), I like human voice more as an instrument. If there isn't anything new to offer, then I prefer it minimal. I like to dance, so I like events like raves. I don't really have any favorite artists.
books: I like old scifi like Jules Verne, Arthur C. Clarke, Stanislaw Lem, Philip K. Dick, Douglas Adams, William Gibson and Tolkien of course. I value new ideas and visions more than clever words. Should read more new books...
movies: anything by Peter Greenaway, "Koyaanisqatsi", Monty Python, "Apu" trilogy, "Dark Star", just to name few. This would need a lengthy discussion...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Amazing encounter: I was walking alone in Norway, mountain path somewhere, heavy mist, almost no visibility. A group of muskoxes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muskox) were sleeping near the path. They were totally invisible lying there... and suddenly they jumped up just in front of me. They ran away, but it was amazing moment, sound of their breathing and everything.
Teach, Learn, Share
I think this is my favorite piece of knowledge: "If an agent has knowledge that one of its actions will lead to one of its goals, then the agent will select that action." - Alan Newell
All people do, what they think is the best thing to do. Doing anything else wouldn't make sense! Of course you do the best thing, after you take into consideration such things as your abilities, strength and so on... Sometimes it's hard to understand why people do what they do, but it's really simple principle of rationality. It's just complex world and complex personal histories...
