À propos de moi

I can describe myself in two words as a "hardworking dreamer". I'll tell you one story:
10 years ago I finally took up the courage to pursue my longtime dream – to build a sailboat and learn to sail. I ordered plans online and started building in April 2007. No one believed in this project. My mother officially thought me a madman and was open about expressing it. My sister thought I was wasting my time. My neighbors looked at me with pity when they saw me laboring in the garage every day from 6:00 pm to mid night and all day on weekends. The only man who never left my side during all this was my father. Mother thought him mad too, but that was an old story. On August 15th, 2007 after 4.5 months of hard work the boat was finished and father and I triumphed with joy to observe the shock on the faces of the entire neighborhood when we rolled her out and everyone saw how beautiful she was. We named the boat “Allegra”, which at the time I believed was a correct spelling for the Spanish word for cheerful, agile. Nobody present there spoke English, so they could not read the words scribed on the right side of the stern: “dare make your dream true!” I launched her at Tbilisi Sea in the company of my father, a friend and his dog. She was pleasure to sail, very elegant and graceful on the water. I was the happiest man on earth then - I lived my dream.

When I look back I realize that those 4.5 months and the entire experience really shaped my character in many ways. It taught me four important things that is applicable in any field, not just boats:
• Set the goal, work out an action plan, then stick to it
• Never be afraid of public opinion, (“oh.. what would others think?” is bullshit)
• Never be discouraged by those who try to discourage you, even if they are your most loved and trusted ones. They don’t necessarily know what is good for you and what not, or even less about what is “possible” and what is not
• Everything that you believe is possible - IS POSSIBLE!

Aand.. if the reader will allow some metaphysics here: when you’re fired up with a strong passion to achieve something, you’re surrounded with some special aura and feel yourself very blessed and somehow everything bends along your way and helps you overcome the obstacles, even when you think you’re screwed, some kind of help always shows up and helps you advancing. That is a wonderful state to be in. So I highly encourage everyone to experience it!

The mentality that comes from that state helps me in all spheres of my life and makes me happy, because I realize I can achieve anything I strongly want, absolutely anything if I really desire it passionately and am committed. Realizing this gives one a lot of power.

The experience has worked marvels for me ever since in all aspects of my life and taught me a lot. So I joke now that I graduated A and B universities, C institute and “Allegra” academy :)

Happy dreaming!

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I would like to experience the country as locals do while traveling and meet new friends. Couchsurfing is an excellent opportunity!

Centres d'intérêt

I love hiking, swimming, horseback riding, skiing and sailing. I also love old and new architecture!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I love music, but I like to listen to different stuff according to my mood. I grew up admiring rock music the likes of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, as well as the Doors, Queen, the Beatles. Then I got acquainted with the Scandinavian Viking Metal - Twin Obscenity was my favorite. Still listen sometimes. Then later I started to admire singers from genres very different from one another: Bob Marley, Cesaria Evora, Buena Vista Social club, etc. I also started to appreciate opera more, love turning on youtube with three grand tenors Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras blasting their powerful voices under Verdi, Puccini, Bizet and so on. So as you see my musical taste is a complete mess))) As in everything else I like diversity and get bored if I stop exploring new things all the time!:)))) As for the movies I really love films by a young Georgian director Nana Ekvtimishvili and Spaniard Pedro Almodovar. My favorite book is the Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Treasure Island and Odissey - all related to travels, sea voyages and adventures! ;)))

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I built my own sailboat to learn to sail:) Love sailing! Also I did paragliding in Caucasus mountains. And I trekked 50 km when I was just 12 !
