Overview
About Me
Irene was born in Naples, Italy, but left at the age of 17 to study in Scotland. She later discovered that journalism was her passion and -after stints in Germany, Canada and the UK- made of Latin America her home.
That is where she met Nacho, who was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but is as restless as Irene. Nacho is also a journalist, a great friend, and a footballer.
They love travelling and sharing life and ideas with other people.
Their relationship took them to Chile, Venezuela and eventually Argentina, where they lived until December 2016.
They have been travelling since, working along the way. Irene is working on A Girls' Game, a documentary on women's football and gender inequality, while Nacho is working on a book project. They are house-sitting, couch-surfing and staying with friends along the way.
Irene says: "I am often asked why I left sunny Naples for remote and cold destinations such as Scotland, Canada and London. I often reply that I just don't know. But that it made sense at the time. Somehow I still feel that travelling around makes more sense than just staying still. Through my travels I have met amazing people from all over the world that have just reenforced my trust in the benefits of putting yourself out there. And of having people around who know where to get you the best food in town."
PHILOSOPHY
We believe in being happy and learning from every opportunity. It's not a philosophy. It's the way we like doing things.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As a result of all our living away from home and travelling, we have often found ourselves compiling oral guides to the cities we've lived in. We've shown friends of friends around, we often run an informal hostel and provide advice as well as accomodation and good food. CS should have been our brainchild! ;-)
