En casa vivimos tres personas, Nacho, Mateo (nuestro hijo) y yo (Irene). Nuestra trayectoria familiar empezó hace algo más de 9 años, cuando nació Mateo; aunque Nacho y yo llevábamos tiempo juntos. Con Mateo empezó un cambio de prioridades que nos llevó a una búsqueda de lo que realmente es importante y en ello estamos, en tratar de encontrar el equilibrio entre vivir en el sistema social occidental y recuperar nuestra esencia como seres humanos. Yo, abrumada por un trabajo que no me llenaba y un ritmo que no me permitía disfrutar de cada momento, busqué una alternativa profesional que me llevó a un lugar en el que la infancia es comprendida en plenitud y mirada con amor profundo y respeto por sus ritmos y necesidades. Lugar en el que me quedé como voluntaria. Nacho me mantiene anclada al sistema. De él os hablaré poco, aquí, ya que esta es fundamentalmente mi iniciativa y no quiero decir cosas que no quiera compartir, si venís ya le conoceréis. Es un ser callado, diligente y de gran corazón. Mateo, alegre, cariñoso, le encanta todo lo que suponga mover su cuerpo y enfrentarse a retos que le permitan descubrir hasta donde es capaz. Estos somos, una familia normal pero en una búsqueda activa por cambiar aquello que sentimos que no es nuestro.

At home we are three people, Nacho, Mateo (our son) and me (Irene). We became a family 9 years ago, when Mateo was born; although Nacho and I met years before. When Mateo was born our priorities changed and we started a search, the search of what it is really important or us. And there we are, trying to find the balance between living in the social system and recovering our essence as human beings. I broke up with a job that did not fulfill my emotional needs and that did not allow me to enjoy each moment of life, I started studying again and my new studies lead me to a place where childhood is fully understood and looked with deep love and respect for their rhythms and needs. I stayed here as a volunteer. Nacho keeps me attached to the system. I will speak little obout him here, because this is mainly my initiative and I do not want to say things that he may not want to share, if you come you will meet him. He is a quiet, diligent and a big-hearted being. Mateo is cheerful, lovely, and he likes whatever movement implies (running, jumping, football, dancing ...). He also tries any challenge that lets him discover his own limit. So this is us, a normal family but in an active search in order to change what we feel is not for us.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Creo que esto lo voy a ir descubriendo poco a poco, pero de primeras porque:
- me apetece ver a dónde me lleva, descubrir quien viene a casa, intercambiar las experiencias que cada cual quiera compartir, conocer a quienes se vayan acercando y explorar qué sentimientos me inspira cada experiencia sin que la obligación de una relación sostenida en el tiempo la condicione;
- conocer otras realidades y descubrir los cambios que eso genera en nosotros, en cada uno de nosotros y como familia;
- ofrecer un lugar que acoge a quienes están lejos de la seguridad de sus hogares;
- que Mateo descubra lo que la experiencia quiera mostrarle;
en definitiva, seguir creciendo a través de las relaciones con los demás.

I think I will discover this step by step, but today the reasons are:
- I want to see where it takes me, discover who comes home, exchange the experiences that each person wants to share, and explore what meeting different people that stay and leve makes me feel;
- know other realities and discover how it changes each one of us and as a family;
- offer a place that welcomes those who are far from the safety of their homes;
- I wnat Mateo to discover what the experience may mean for him;
To sum up I am here to continue growing through meeting other people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pues es que llegada a una edad ya no puedo hablar de cosas favoritas o preferidas. Me encanta todo aquello que en un momento dado me hace sentir. Hace unos días, paseando por Lisboa, nos encontramos un dúo tocando en la calle unos instrumentos que nunca había oído y me encantó. Libros: últimamente estoy leyendo muchos libros de desarrollo infantil, pero he leído novelas, poesía, historia ficción, y unos me gustan y otros no.
Y con las películas me pasa lo mismo, hace años que casi solo veo películas infantiles, pero he visto de casi todo y, lo mismo, unas me hacen llorar o reír y otras me aburren, independientemente del tipo de película. En la época de las preferencias decía que me encantaba Hitchcock y que mi película favorita era "La rosa púrpura del Cairo", pero ya no podría hacer estas afirmaciones, depende de mi momento y de cada canción, cada libro y cada película.

The truth is that at this age I do not have "one prefered" whatever. I love whatever makes me feel deeply. Some days ago, walking around Lisbon, I heared two guys playing some instruments that I had never heared and I loved it. Concerning books, lately, I am reading books about childhood needs, but I have read novels, poetry, science fiction, and some I love, some I do not. Concerning movies, it is the same, lately I watch movies for children, but I have watched almost any kind of movies, some make me cry, some make me laugh and I get bored with some others. Long time ago I used to say that I loved Hitchcock movies and that one of my favourite movies was "The purple rose of Cairo", but I could not say it now. Now what I like depends on my mood and on each song, each book and each movie.

Apuntarme a esta web. Tener un hijo. Transformar mi vida. Supongo que cada uno valora lo que es increíble de manera distinta. Cuando vengas, si quieres que charlemos, lo descubrirás.

Teach, Learn, Share

Esto lo dejo para mas tarde, porque lo que me sale es decir que:
- Enseñar: puedo mostrarte quien soy y tu decides si aprendes algo.
- Aprender: disfruto escuchando, observando, conociendo.
- Compartir: quien soy, hasta donde me permita en cada momento.

I will leave this for later because now what comes to my mind is:
- Teaching: I can let you know myself and you decide whether you learn something or not.
- Learning: I love listening, saring and getting to know.
- Sharing: who I am, depending on each moment.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Material: un sofá, una habitación con un colchón en el suelo, un baño compartido con mi hijo, una cocina compartida con nosotros.
Humano: escucha y conversación. El tiempo que os pueda dedicar dependerá de cada momento.
No se me da bien hacer de guía turístico y no se qué puede surgir de cada encuentro, pero se irá viendo.

Material: a couch, a room with a mattress in the floor, a shared bathroom, a shared kitchen.
Non material: listening and talking. How much time I can share with you will depend on each moment.
I am not good at guiding but we will see. I am new here.
