About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My boyfriend and I are taking the long way around to Vietnam... Through Europe and then the Trans Siberian Express! It's kind of a spontaneous trip of a lifetime and we're making it up as we go along.
También quería ser fluido en español. Si quieres, podemos ir a una adventura, tomar una cervecita o diez, y practicamos.. porque me encanta este idioma!
ABOUT ME
Hi! I'm Irene. I lived in Johannesburg, South Africa for most of my life before turning everything upside down by teaching English in South Korea. Since then I've lived in Argentina, Greece, and Cordoba, Spain... For now I'm not sure what the future holds. I've been a vegetarian and afraid of everything my whole life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing has helped me find friends every time I visit somewhere new. In general I've found couchsurfers to be fun, open-minded, and kind-hearted. You guys rock!
Interests
I love dancing, seeing live music, people watching, yoga, laughing, and pretending to be a pirate.
I love both camping in nature and going to music festivals. I wish I were fitter because I'm keen on going on hikes. Except for, you know, the tiring uphill hiking part. Being in nature makes me feel complete so it's all worth it. I get sad if I'm surrounded by concrete for too long.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - indie, rock, and some guilty pop. I love electro-swing, Balkan beats, ska-punk, and drunken karaoke. Also trance parties in forests.
Movies - there are so many great movies but as I mentioned I really love High Fidelity. The Star Wars series, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, How to Train Your Dragon, and the Lion King are movies I don't mind seeing again and again.
Books - The Great Gatsby, Cloud Atlas, the Bell Jar, and Marching Powder. I enjoy Nick Hornby and Robert Rankin. I'm currently reading The English Patient.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In the Transkei, South Africa I jumped off a cliff into the ocean. It was really scary and it took me a long time to take the leap. But once I jumped I wanted to jump again :) I´ve since jumped off cliffs in the Philippines and into the Amazon river and it still terrified me.
