About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get around the world in one piece

ABOUT ME

Headed out for a summer trip after a long year of school. Not sure where that will take me exactly, but I try to live in and make the most of the present moment. That usually includes good food, friends, and laughs.

PHILOSOPHY

Stay positive, open, and laugh as much as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I couchsurfed from Latvia to Thailand about a year ago, and it was one of the highlights of the ~4 month trip.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing has been a real treat. Meeting cool people around the world and making friends who I'd otherwise miss out on.

I enjoy football (soccer), basketball, swimming, running, biking, triathlon, hiking, cooking, traveling, exploring, reading, and tons of other things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading. Always on the lookout for a keen book recommendation and might even be able to offer a few myself. Really enjoy watching movies and listening to music, except country--can't do country, haha. Love watching and hearing new stuff though!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So I was taking a class in and around Veracruz a few years back. One late afternoon on our way back from a museum, we stopped at the home of an amateur conservationist a kilometer two from the ocean. He had been collecting baby sea turtle eggs on the beach and allowing them to hatch in his backyard to give them the best chance of survival (this endangered species face fewer problems when full grown, but predation on the beach of eggs and eventually baby turtles making their way to the water wipes out thousands each hatching season). All of his turtles had hatched and we were allowed to walk them out to the beach, set them down, and watch them crawl to the shore. The sun was setting behind us and the beach, for all intents and purposes, was a virgin one, with no signs of human interference other than our own presence. The whole scene, the rebirth, the circle, the colors, it was all just grand. You really felt alive and that all was good.

Teach, Learn, Share

Good conversation, genuine curiosity, little cleanup, and, hopefully, a good joke or two if you're in the mood.

If the timing is right, I can cook a little bit and hopefully share a few stories.
