About Me

I was born and raised in Russia, in a city named Kirov. It is where you experience paradoxical Russia with all your senses. 30 degrees in winter, +30 degrees in summer, big and small crimes, bad roads, and sarcastic jokes to deal with injustice and cruel reality. Enchained, but still free. When I was 18 years old, I moved to Germany to study and start a new life. Since then I have been learning and shaping myself and exploring the world around me.
Currently, I am following my studies in Brisbane, Australia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, I desperately need to get out of my Darmstadt bubble and ramble around for a while! Furthermore, Couchsurfing gives you an opportunity to become friends with people the second you meet each other. I wouldn't miss such a cheap flight to a land named Friendship :)

Music, Movies, and Books

If any musical piece finds me attractive, I am almost always pleased. Classical music, jazz, fusion, progressive, heavy metal, rock, funk, folk, something daring and expressive, something tragical and introverted, gloomy or joyful - it will always capture you at the right moment.

I am not a big lover of films and cinema-creatures, but I try to keep my sight clear. Lately, the deep pictures of Tarkovsky's creatures magnetized my attention, as well as Coppola's 'The Godfather' and 'Apocalypse Now'. The dynamic works of Tarantino give me a good feeling as well. The latest inventions of the film industry are unfortunately not exactly my cup of tea...

At the moment I try to concentrate on non-fiction books about humanhood. As in music, I stick to thoughts and feelings which seem right in this exact period of life. These are now Erich Fromm, Hermann Hesse, Hannah Arendt and Terrence McKenna.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I suppose there had been several. It is somehow unfair to neglect a whole bunch of great experiences, so I would try to list at least some of them:
1) street music has given me more friends and joy than any other activity;
2) building and working on a glider;
3) recording violin for a friend's EP;
4) gaining fluency in German;
5) making short films with friends and then watching them on a big screen altogether (ENJOY ONE OF THOSE PEARLS: https://youtu.be/44FkqBg1Vos);
6) standing on a shore and feeling the breeze;
7) freezing to the bones near the lake in Killarney, while watching shooting stars in September.
