My name is Iris. I was born in Graz, Austria. I studied interior architecture and architecture in Germany and Austria. During that time I went abroad to Madrid and California. Last year I lived in Kigali, Rwanda and worked as an architect and built playgrounds and learning centers for a small community. For the following 6 months I’ve been traveling through Asia, Australia and the U.S. with my girlfriend and definitely have a lot of stories to share! Working as an architect in Toronto now and looking forward to meeting new interesting people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My family always used to host couch surfers in Austria and I made a lot of very good experiences around the world!

Interests

Sports: rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding, windsurfing and want to learn surfing.
Music: I love going to concerts and festivals. I also play some guitar and piano.
I like all kinds of adventures, spontaneous road trips, going out, meeting people and up for fun stuff, absolutely down for outdoorsy adventures.

I listen to almost everything, at the moment I prefer 90s music and alternative rock from the 90s. And everything you could sing along or play on guitar!!
Movies: definitely comedies.
Books: definitely crime stories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Saw a reef shark while snorkeling at the Tioman reef (Malaysia)
Hiked Half Dome in Yosemite, Sabinyo (Uganda) and parts of Kilimanjaro
My first obstacle races: Spartan Sprint in Munich (5km) and Grazathlon in Graz (10km)
Saw silver back gorillas at the volcanoes in Uganda
Mountain lion encounter at Big Sur in California, ask me to share detailed stories!
