Hello there!

I'm Iris and currently I live together with my boyfriend Nick and cat Genti in Culemborg.

I love drinking tea, coffee and wine. My great passions are music, dancing, boardgames and learning new things. I love going for hikes in the forrest, going to concerts, fine dining and the sauna. The sun always makes me smile and I am a big fan of nature.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

When you are surfing, you naturally save a lot of money, which I love because it makes traveling possible for all. The most positive thing about surfing (to me) however, is that you experience the city/country you are in from a local's point of view. You get to places you otherwise would never discover, learn things about the culture you can only become to understand when you are in someone's home. You can ask things and talk about things that you can otherwise only read or ask a tourguide. Amazing!

Hosting is very rewarding too. I like sharing what I have with other people. What I like the most though, is that you get to see your own city/country in a whole other light. People ask you questions, that make you think about your own culture. People are amazed by things, that you don't even notice anymore. People might be upset by things that to you are very normal, which you never gave a second thought. In a way it makes your own country/city just as spectacular and interesting as any other place you visit.

In conclusion, I find couchsurfing a beautiful initiative! I couldn't say a bad word about it. It's just amazing how many people still trust human kind enough to host/surf with strangers and are open to new contact.
