About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Jamming, singing, teaching and doing research at a university

ABOUT ME

...Funny, crazy, according to my physical appearance you won't call me a bear, almost always smiling and laughing,...

...with a head that's full of musical stuff, funny ideas,...

I'd describe myself as a very open-minded, friendly and reliable person who's interested in a lot of different things...

PHILOSOPHY

To be a rock and not to roll.

To play as many instruments as I have the chance to. You cannot talk about an instrument if you have never ever played it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just trying to offer the oppertunity of CouchSurfing in a winter-sport-dominated area of Austria - whenever I can (as a matter of fact I'm quite often away from home: doing recording-sessions for bands, being on the road with own bands etc...so please don't be disappointed if I cannot support you with a couch at specific times...)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I did and still do a lot of hitch-hiking all over Europe so I was and still am glad whenever I'm given the chance to sleep on somebody's couch and get to know people...

Interests

music, literature, cultures, sports, people, nature.......

Actually I'm crazy about instruments and music. I play, or at least try to play quite a few instruments (piano, organ, flute, accordion, guitar, mandolin, viola, didgeridoo, recorder, recently started with sax and clarinet...) and I'm keen on singing! I also play and sing in some bands, projects...and I'm studying musictherapy.

During daytime I'm a music therapist, lecturer at universities, musician...during nighttime there's is the musician only...

Oh yeah, and I love snowboarding and skiing. I live in a ski-resort and kind of grew up with a pair of ski on my feet. Quite a few famous snowboarders "grew" out of the valley I live in. I also do cross-country-skiing, cross-country-walking and other sports (football, rollerblading...).

Man, how do I love the film "Almost Famous" by Cameron Crowe!!! Also, lots of musical stuff like "Irish Tour" by Rory Gallagher, "The Song Remains the Same" by Led Zeppelin, Benny & Joon (w. J. Depp), the Gilbert Grape-film....

Music: Rock, Folk, Jazz, Blues, Stoner-Rock, Hard Rock, Classical Music...such as Rory Gallagher, Led Zeppelin, Wolfmother, The Quill, The Hellacopters, Jethro Tull, Low, Dirty Three, Fairport Convention, Sandy Denny, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Norah Jones, Steeleye Span, The Pentangle, Pearl Jam, Mother Love Bone, Black Sabbath, Allman Brothers, Grand Funk Railroad, Queen, AC/DC, Guns 'n' Roses, Chopin, Robert Johnson, Bach, Stockhausen, Ligeti, Berio, Nono, Messiaen, Grieg, Sibelius, Holst, Strauss, Wagner, Django Reinhardt, Lynyrd Skynyrd, MC5, The Stooges, Aerosmith, Birth Control, The Doors, Frumpy, Inga Rumpf, Paternoster, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Spirit, Joe Cocker, Bert Sommer, Keef Hartley Group, John Mayall, Krokodil, Savage Rose, James Gang, The White Stripes, Two Gallants, Deep Purple, Sugarloaf, Bloodrock, Third Power, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Blue Cheer, Tear Gas, Toefat, The Nice, Leonard Cohen, Jimi Hendrix, Killing Floor, John Lee Hooker, Electric Flag, Electric Prunes, Muddy Waters, The Band, Howlin' Wolf, Vashti Bunyan, Ravi Shankar, Incredible Sting Band, Sweetwater, Janis Joplin, Rage Against the Machine, Slade, Blood Sweat & Tears, Little John, If, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Frank Zappa, Van Der Graaf Generator, Still Live, The Who, The Kinks, The Pretty Things, The Animals, Laura Nyro, Canned Heat, Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham, Art Blakey, Miles Davis, James Brown, Ike & Tina Turner, The Moody Blues, The Soft Machine, Steamhammer, The Taste, Free, Bad Company, Hot Tuna, Black Widow, Ten Years After, and many, many more....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I've gone through lots of funny, peculiar, strange and incredible situations. If you plan to stay on my couch for some days I'll tell you!

Oh yes, right now there is some kind of memory coming to my mind I'd like to share with you:

I was hitch-hiking down to Montreux (Switzerland) for the Montreux Jazz Festival, as I wanted to see Robert Plant and Jimmy Page (formerly Led Zeppelin) performing there. I had been staying at a petrol station for about 2 hours when suddenly a young driver of a "fat" pleb-BMW offered me a ride. Glad to be given the chance, I agreed and jumped in the car.

Man, that guy pushed his car up to a 220 km/h on the Swiss motorway (allowance: 120 km/h - otherwise there'll be very high traffic tickets). But that wasn't the worst of things. The car was full of junk! I was sittin' in a pusher's car!!! And he was using his stuff while he was driving! We were passing scenes of accidents, highway patrolmen etc. doing 220 and the driver being a pusher!! All I wanted was to get out of this car as soon as possible. Fortunately, nobody stopped us and I was able to get out of this "horror-scene" soon after I'd gotten into it.

Nervertheless, the concert was great and back home, I felt that I had to write a song about that. It's called: "Hitch-hiking to Montreux"

Teach, Learn, Share

Among by professions there is the one being a teacher....then you should actually love teaching. I mean that's not obvious, but it works with me. I really like teaching and learning...It is so incredibly funny to teach and usually I used to have and still have a hell of a good time in my university classes!!

And I would even share my last beer or whatever with you if you did not have any!

Countries I’ve Visited

Andorra, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In
