Hi! I am a geeky woman with a bunch of weird interests.
· I study galaxies as a job. I run cosmological simulations to learn about the role of gas in galaxy formation.
· I am enthusiastic in population genomics, especially using it as a tool to discover the demographic history in south China.
· I am interested in East Asian/Southeast Asian peoples in general - their language, music, history, identity and current political situation. From the Uyghurs and Tibetans to the Hmongs and Yis.
· I write history fanfics about Han dynasty(~200 BC). Only about a certain family though.
· I translate Chinese webnovels into English. If you know TKA...

Some facts about me:
· I grew up in a Hakka family in the Hakka region in Guangdong, but my first language is Mandarin and my second language is Cantonese. I am trying to speak more Hakka.
· Both of my parents are super good cooks and I have inherited the talent from them.
· I am trying to learn a language that's spoken by less than 1,000 people. It's not in the drop-down list so I put Hmong instead. Supposedly they are related.
· I've had more Szechuan food or food from other regions of China in general in the US than in my 20 years in China. (I guess we Hakka/Cantonese are too proud of our food)

I used to be a Japanese Visual Kei fangirl and still listen to some bands from the 90s. I listened to metal/metalcore when I was teenager too. Now I mostly listened to Chinese folk music and ethnic music.

I love reading. When I was young I read a lot of 'classics' because that's what we had in our apartment. Unfortunately I have become lazy and read more 'fast-food' type of novels now. I've read tons of danmei...if you don't know what it means, don't google it.
