About Me

What to say?
Quick bio: studied German-French studies in Germany and France as well as Migration and cross cultural communication. Worked as social worker in refugee camps in Germany, Portugal, on the Mediterranean as well as in a German refugee Council. Apart from that, I gave and give trainings for teenagers to make them detect their potential.

I wrote in the past tense - and this is why:
After realizing I can not change the system in which I am working, I finally decided that if I can't change the system (for now) , I have to get out of it. So, I quit my jobs, my apartment, and packed my bag. Right now I'm living the dream: travelling without a plan, without end, without expectations. I initially tried to travel by land to be able to travel slow as hell. As I am a quite fast person, I wanted to slow down and live the moment as well as the way. Well, we all know that crossing borders by land was not possible for quite some time now - as well as planning in general. Therefore, I am travelling the most spontaneous, flexible, unplanned travel I ever had and I am learning so much every day!

I am a clear ambivert - can be very extrovert when I feel comfortable but clearly need some introvert time in between :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When travelling, the best memories and experiences are connected to meeting people. I usually feel very "wrong" and unfulfilled when I am staying at hostels with a bunch of other foreigners as it usually turns out talking about instead of with my surroundings.
My deep wish for travelling is to be connected to my surroundings and truly feel the places and ways of life. Therefore, CS has until now always been the most authentic and deep way to meet and connect with people. It is so enrichening to meet couchsurfers who usually are easygoing and open - minded people and therefore sth I don't wanna miss anymore!
Also, it makes me get out of my comfort zone over and over again - which is great! Met the best people through couchsurfing :)

Interests

Luckily, I now have time again to detect my passions and different interests - which means that this section will change quite a lot in the next months!
Usually, a good day for me includes social interaction (I live deep talks with friends or strangers), good food, good coffee, an interesting book, some yoga, sun (!) and new learnings. I love to learn and understand through observation of social interactions, which is sth I do a lot when travelling in order to be able to adapt.
I am interested in anyone who has a story to tell and can't get enough of interesting and interested people.
Also, I am fascinated by languages, alphabets and especially the logic and way of living that can be found behind languages and people.

I wish I knew more about history, politics, building, gardening,... - but hey, I'm sure there is tons of people who can share their knowledge!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm super bad in naming actors and movies and music. But concerning books I can say that I love to "dive" into deep, meaningful books.
Books/Authors that I loved: 1984, Extremely loud, incredibly Close, Die Mitte der Welt, Rafik Schami, Schlink, Saramago, Die Maus, and so many more...I am also hugely attracted to non-fiction books from and about the region around Iran, Irak, Syria, Afghanistan.
Always opened for new book propositions!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At that moment I didn't think it was great - only afterwards I value the ecperience: ending up hitchhiking with a mafia boss in Albania who was about to deliver drugs. Ended up being the driver as he was too stoned to drive and also turned out not having a driving licence :-D

Teach, Learn, Share

Open to learn pretty much everything.
What can I teach and share? Curiosity, anything I learnt and experienced, and I was told I ask good questions. So, be ready to being asked questions that might go deeper than "What's your name" ;-)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Deep and honest interest in your person, your country, your language, your stories and experiences. Respectful and thoughtful guest. Happy to cook a common meal - and even more to learn one of your favourite recipes!
