About Me

Hi! I am a 21 years old university student studying psychology and full of wanderlust. I'm from Istanbul and now living in Rome as an Erasmus student! Been in 13 different countries and hope to add more to this list every year. I usually travel with one or two friends and make new ones during my trips. People generally say that I am super friendly and easygoing so I can't see a reason why we can't get along :) I am highly interested in arts (especially classical music and Italian cinema). Looking forward to having some new experiences thanks to the Couchsurfing family!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I obviously love traveling and meeting new people on my way. Even if hostels are great for cheap accommodation and meeting with other travelers, meeting locals while traveling is always the best! It truly adds another dimension to the trip, by going out of the tourist track and having an actual experience in the place I visit. Since I am in Rome for my Erasmus, I really want to make the best of it and travel all around Italy, which I believe is the most beautiful country in Europe!

Music, Movies, and Books

I know it is a huge cliché but I really love every type of music! You can see me both in opera houses and the Sziget Festival. I have musician parents, so even if I do not play any instruments I am very much involved with classical music as a listener. I also sing for the classical music and jazz choirs of my university as an alto. I also love Italian pop, 60s-80s rock, indie... you name it (well electro is the only exception).
I love Italian cinema (Fellini, Antonioni, Tornatore- Sorrentino.. a bit less than the others) but La Strada by Fellini has a different place in me since it was the one who made me want to see more of Italian cinema. I also like the Turkish cinema, of course! I binge-watch series all the time and have to admit that I enjoy cliche romcoms a lot.
I grew up as a book worm. The journey started with Harry Potter and Ulysses Moore, then there was a time I was obsessed with Austen's, but I read pretty much every genre and from every country. In recent years, however, I am enjoying reading the literature of my own country more than everything.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am trying to learn Italian right now, so If you are patient enough to teach me some daily things during the stay that would be great!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food exchange is my favorite! I would love to cook some traditional Turkish food in the houses I am staying in.
