ABOUT ME

My name is Tal, i'm 34, I have a startup for training road safety in VR, I teach kids with learning disorders and instruct advanced driving techniques.

I consider myself friendly, easy to get along with, i have various interests, from Buddhism wisdom, through psychology and history, to shopping and partying :) I tend not to take life too seriously and try to make the best out of every situation.

I live in a cosy and roomy apartment, near Kikar HaMedina (the big circle in the map).

PHILOSOPHY

deterministic Secular existentialist. yeah, i know its a contradiction-
contradiction is a scary in-your-face version of "different perspectives".
i guess it all comes up to what it feels like right now.
one moment it feels like its supposed to be, the other feels like nothing really matters. philosophically, that is.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

PLEASE READ THIS THOROUGHLY.

..........GIVE AND NOT JUST GET:

i started participating as a surfer, and gained amazing experiences, love and new friends while doing it.
now I'm giving my share.

Up until today, all my couch surfing experiences, either as a surfer and as a host- were good,some great.
i must mention, though, that I had some small (tiny) mishaps, that I'd like to prevent in the future.
everything written here is because of the experience I gained, and I'm sure that if you are experienced enough, the things that i write will be familiar.

So please read the following, and help me help you.

..................SURFING TERMS:

GENERAL
as a surfer, it's only fair that while I use a couch, I give something in return- like taking care of groceries \ cooking \ cleaning \ introducing your local music..

Please see that you keep the room and the bathroom tidy

SCORE RATES
you'll get a positive score if you follow all of the above and the below.
you'll get a high score if i can prepare school stuff while you are here.
you'll get highest score if later we can go dance in a nearby club and make fools out of ourselves.
If you get a very high score, you'll be rewarded by being introduced to Tim Tam. (you will be filmed while doing it, and it probably will be broadcast in a Berlin Couch Surfing film festival. don't worry, you'll enjoy every moment :) )

ARRIVAL
please give me a notice of your estimated time of arrival when you know it- if it's by an international phone- by SMS only.

............FEATURES AND RESTRICTIONS:

(ON THE HOUSE)
A mattress, sheets, blankets, towels, a spare key, hot water, internet, a porch, and some good advises.

(NOT EXACTLY ON THE HOUSE)

FOOD
you can use my food if you re-fill it in some way. you can save this money if you cook a big dish for both of us with my groceries and see that i take it to work.

A SPARE KEY
the spare key is given to you so you can use the door. (isn't that obvious?!) and lock it always, whether you
are in or out! If you are going out an you are alone in the house, make sure that all the doors lights and electric thingies are closed.
if you forget about this term on any of its details 3 times, you owe me a good beer or something equivalent.

MAPS
90% of my surfers lose or destroy my maps . If you are a part of the majority, i will kindly point my finger at you and order you to get a my new one (it's free and it's 12 minutes from my house).

HOT WATER
In the winter, it might take a while to heat the water. there's a clock for that. please ask me about it.

INTERNET
yay, wifi ! :D

MAPS
i can provide you with tel aviv and jerusalem maps.

it's not a term, but i will be grateful if you bring me something small that i can put on my souvenir stand. but please don't invest money in that..

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

my first surf was 5 days at wonderful Bilbo's house in Berlin. I really didn't want to leave, and i'm sure the feeling was mutual. we had so many things to discuss about, dishes to make, games to play with her son..
her unfulfilled demand to close the toilet lid led to a fun game i invented- "third time ice cream"- instead of getting mad at me, the third time i forgot to close it, i bought her whatever she wanted. can you guess what it was? exactly! yogurt! :P

the experience was so good, i was delighted to return to berlin 4 months later, as my trip ended, and give her a visit. this was a perfect closure to a perfect trip

i have more great experiences in Germany, and in Norway- Lillehammer, Skien and Bergen. I'll tell you all about it when you come, but now i would really love to get some sleep.
