Overview
About Me
Hey! I’m Isaac, a Canadian who loves meeting new people, trying great food, and learning about different cultures.
Right now I’m living and traveling around Japan, exploring everything from big cities to quiet countryside spots. At the moment I’m based in Sanuki (Kagawa), where I volunteer at a small community centre, helping with marketing/content and teaching English to locals.
I’m an active person and always trying to improve or learn something new. I love playing hockey and I’m big into working out. Lately I’ve been getting into soccer and volleyball, trying new recipes, and studying Japanese (slowly but surely).
I really enjoy exchanging stories, learning what people are passionate about, and just sharing good experiences, whether that’s over food, exploring somewhere new, or just hanging out.
One important thing: I have a serious peanut allergy (anaphylactic), so I can’t eat anything with peanuts or cross-contamination—but I’m always excited to try new foods safely!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I just joined Couchsurfing because I wanted a better way to explore Japan and meet new people, and this felt like the perfect place. I really love making unexpected connections and friendships, so if you’re up for hanging out, sharing stories, or grabbing some food, I’m always down!

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm not the most educated when it comes to music, but I enjoy all kinds. Some of my favourite genres are hip-hop/rap, rock, metal, and edm. Please give me recommendations!
I love watching and talking about movies, tv shows, and anime. My personal favourites are Dune, Interstellar, The Office, Attack on Titan, One Piece, Haikyuu, and Gintama. If you're a big cinema buff I would love to sit down and chat about that for hours.
As for books, I'm super into A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) and looking to start the Dune series.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed Mt. Fuji! It was tough but super rewarding and easily one of my favourite experiences in Japan so far.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to improve my Japanese conversation skills! I can help you practice English or teach you all about Canadian culture!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’m a pretty easygoing and social person; I enjoy good conversations, sharing stories, and learning from others. I’m also a decent cook and would be happy to make a meal together or share some Canadian dishes. I’m always respectful of house rules and like to keep things easy and comfortable for everyone.
