About Me

I was born in New York City. Until I was 17 I strongly believed New York City was the only reasonable place a person could live. Then I moved to California. I fell in love with nature, trees, and walking slowly. The next step was to live abroad, and so I moved to Israel. Since, I have come to love the land, the language and the history of my people.

Also, I love the sky

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel I want to meet the people tied to the soil, to the cities, those who speak the language of the street signs, whose parents and grandparents built the buildings and walked their lives through their doors, who told folk tales about the hills at night, the people who care about their country.

Also, my friend Eli, a veteran couchsurfer and host of couchsurfers, swears by couchsurfing.

Interests

I write poetry and short stories. I love to read, to learn new words and play around with language.

I play guitar and love to jam with others. Singing the classics and making up tunes and lyrics on the fly.

Jewish and Israeli history

I draw a bit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just before university I spent 10 days hiking through Yosemite park in Califronia, off trail, swimming in glacial lakes, fighting bears, climbing mountains, eating dirt...

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a lot of New York slang and Yiddish idioms which don't exist in other languages. I also have quite a bit of historical knowledge.

Mostly, I like to share the knowledge of how to change one's perception: to see differently with one's eyes, hear differently, to learn how to focus on the singular senses and to mix the senses with one another (synesthesia).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I cook. I can contribute wine and stories.
