About Me
***I'm currently travelling so I can't host at the moment. Sorry! ***
-
Hi there! I'm Isabel, from São Paulo, Brazil, currently doing an Erasmus Mundus Master. I've been to Brussels, Vienna, Copenhagen and soon I'll move to Madrid.
Every time I need to settle down in a new city, I join CS to connect with locals and travelers - yes, I'm doing my best not to get stuck in the academic bubble :)
Random but important: Squats/occupations, flea markets and free events are my urban love language! It will always be a YES if you have any recommendations on that ✨ if you are into urban politics, social justice and collective organisations, we will probably get along!
I'm happy to host whenever I can, feel free to send me a message especially if you're not picky - I'm a student and can't offer anything fancy at the moment haha
You can always find me on ig or telegram @isabelbbarboza :)
Interests
Free events, squats and street markets are my urban love language. It will always be a YES if you invite me to any of these things.
I really enjoy hiking, although I've been doing it less after the pandemic. I would love to go to the mountains again soon.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Working with landless/homeless movement in São Paulo
Occupying empty buildings to welcome women victims of violence
Rescuing kitties and dogs from the streets (my family and I have rescued +100 of them for sure. It's a volunteer thing, we try to find adoptions for them all but eventually some end staying with us - now we have 12 cats and 3 dogs hehe)
Road trip through cerrado, finding Terra Ronca in btw Chapada dos Veadeiros and Chapada Diamantina. Lovely caves
Carnival in Olinda (!)
Teach, Learn, Share
Sharing our travel stories is intrinsic to couchsurfing!
I also love to cook so I'm always happy to make Brazilian food and learn other recipes from different cuisines.
Besides, with me you can practice or learn a bit of Brazilian Portuguese ;)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Brazilian food, some Portuguese and good stories
