Overview
About Me
I am an American living in Colombia as a scuba diving instructor. I was working in public health for many years as an epidemiologist, but I got tired of working 70+ hours per week during the pandemic. Now, I live on a small island off the coast of Cartagena where I am lucky to live simply doing all of my favorite things, yoga, scuba diving, reading, and more. I will be traveling around Brazil for the Month of May. This is my first time using couch surfing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Lately, I prefer the more local experience when I travel as opposed to the hostel backpacking route. That way, I feel I learn more about the county and culture. I also like connecting with like-minded people from all around the world. Some of my most memorable friendships have been formed through travel, and I truly value those relationships.

Music, Movies, and Books
I read a lot and have always found it difficult to pin point a favorite. So instead I will write my current book obsessions: In english, I just finished all 10 Department Q crime novels by Jussi Adler Olsen. In spanish, I am currently reading anything and everything by Laura Restrepo.
Movies: Anything that makes me think, like psychological thrillers
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Dove Raja Ampat, Indonesia. This side of Indonesia was difficult to get to and not easy to travel once there. Once there, I stayed in a little floating island home over the water with a family. There were no legitimate dive shops, just locals with some old diving equipment. It was worth the journey, definitely one of the last paradises on earth.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach yoga, scuba diving, and share my love for all water activities. I can also help with English/Spanish practice. I would really like to speak more Portuguese.
