Hello everybody!

We are a couple from Santa Barbara, California currently backpacking Southeast Asia en route to Europe! Jack is creative director for his own creative agency and web developer and Isabel is an actress and massage therapist. We love to travel and meet new people, we don't believe you've experienced the true character of a city until going to a bar with the locals! We hope to meet like minded people through couchsurfing as we make our way around Europe!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Jack and I are traveling through Europe after our 2 month adventure in South East Asia comes to a close! We think couch surfing would be the best way to get the full cultural experience of the cities in the countries we plan to visit. We only plan to be couchsurfing for a couple of days while in transit between locations while we do HelpX where we'll be volunteering on organic farms around Europe.

For the same reasons we're doing HelpX we think couchsurfing allows us to immerse ourselves into the communities giving us the real local experience, not just your average tourist trap vacation.

Interests

We are an eclectic couple with an endless range of interests. We find life to be a vastly beautiful and enlightening experience offering little to be bored with. We very much enjoy all types of conversation, over all types of alcohol, with all types of music, in all types of settings.

That being said we're up to join you on a night out or keep ourselves preoccupied if you're busy -- Isabel is starting her own non-profit and Jack runs his own creative agency so we have a lot to do.

Music, Movies, and Books

This section alone deserves a 30 minute discussions rather than this mere text box.

Movies: Isabel's an actress and Jack considers himself a movie buff so our movie interests are endless. We love foreign, independent, classics, etc. Heres a few off the top of our head we've watched recently: Godfather (1&2), Goodfellas, 7 Samurai, V for Vendetta, anything Scorcese, anything Tarantino, Children of Men, Coherence, Gravity, OldBoy, Birdman, I've Seen the Devil, Black Swan, Survivalist, Bone Tomahawk, Slow West, Buried, Deadpool, and so many more.

Music: Both of us are huge music fans with similar tastes that have a huge variety. Jack is a really big hi-hop fan and if you are not one he will do everything he can to change your mind. For rap we love Kanye West, Common, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, ASAP Mob, TDE, Young Thug, Anderson .Paak, Drake, Flatbush Zombies, Atmosphere, Eminem, and again many more. Other artists we are listening to now are Odesza, Glass Animals, Zhu, Ta-ku, Future Classic artists, Soulection, and more. Isabel loves classic rock and Jack has a knack for metal binges. We love anything that fits the mood and vibe of the situation and are open to everything. Except we draw the line at pop country. Do not accept us into your homes if you like pop country music.

Books: Jack leans towards non-fiction work, mainly science and political science. He's a big Richard Dawkins fan, Chris Hedges, Christopher Hitchens, Glenn Greenwald, Noam Chomsky, Gore Vidal, and more. Isabel likes more fiction based literature like Kurt Vonnegut, Shakespeare, Kafka, Milan Kundera, Augusten Burroughs, and more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Something similar that we both consider amazing that we've accomplished is moving away from our small stagnant home towns at age 18 to California to seek a higher education and better life. Isabel is originally from a small suburb in New Jersey and Jack from Minnesota. Where we're from its not too common to leave the state and most people fall into the same outcomes life wise.

Our lives have never been the same since we both made that decision from our own separate parts of the country and we wouldn't take it back for anything. We wouldn't have met each other if we hadn't and we wouldn't be writing this either!
