About Me

One of my first memories is from a trip to Egypt when I was six, staring up as the morning light hit the massive rock temples at Abu Simbel. Now I'd rather spend my time and money on travel over everything else.

I grew up splitting my time between Italy and California with a year-long stay in France--after getting my B.A. I moved to Lebanon, fell in love with the Middle East and man'oushe, and got my M.A. in Arab Studies in Washington D.C where I've been for the past three years.

I'm looking forward to a new adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After a lengthy hiatus from living in Europe, I'm moving to London for a wonderful job. As soon as I get a flat I'll be more than happy to host wanderers and travelers, but for now I'm just surfing!

Interests

Food, art, hiking, cinema, feminism, turning strangers into friends, exploring cities on foot and by bike.

Music, Movies, and Books

I maintain that a life without cheese is a sad existence indeed.

Currently reading: "The Painted Veil" by Somerset Maugham and "The Buried Giant" by Kazuo Ishiguro. Always looking for recommendations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Running my fingers through the water of a phosphorescent lagoon in Puerto Rico, specializing in talking my way past checkpoints in Lebanon, having a weirdly mystical experience involving llamas in Peru, eating ten different kinds of miso in Japan.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you the hands down best way to make risotto and roman-style gnocchi (learned from my incredible mother and my adoptive grandmother), and I can converse with you in any one of the five languages I speak (some better than others). I can teach you which wild mushrooms are tasty to eat and which ones will kill you. I can also quote the entirety of the LOTR movies to you if you're into that.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm an excellent cook and baker and I ESPECIALLY love cooking for other people, and I tell a real spooky ghost story or two. I will treat your home and your space with utmost respect).
