About Me

I'm just out of college and spending the next year in Hyderabad, India before I start graduate school in New York City. I'm in Hyderabad on a Fulbright grant to teach English in a government school and do research. This is my second time living in India and the last time I was here, I didn't take enough advantage of being close to so many other wonderful countries; I'm planning to change that this time! I'm new to couchsurfing but I've heard really good things so here I am. I'll definitely return the favor once I get back to New York... who knows maybe I'll even begin while I'm in Hyderabad :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Traveling and talking to people about their homes is one of my first loves in the world. Though I was born in the United States, my mother is from China and my father is Latin American, so I'm always trying to explore more about the places I & others come from! But I'm a student and that's not cheap so I'm checking out couchsurfing to try to make ends meet and still travel :) I love how it's all about sharing experiences!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music of all types--from country music to pop to sad indie rock. If I absolutely had to pick a favorite though, it is probably R&B and my favorite artist would be a tie between Solange & Lianne LaHavas!

I grew up with a love for Leo DiCaprio films... Titanic, Catch Me If You Can, Inception... I've seen them all. Watching movies is my favorite pastime though so I don't know if I can name any all-time favorites. But I definitely go for dramas, action movies (especially of the spy variety), and rom-coms.

Books, books, books... the way to my heart. I normally read poetry which a lot of people aren't into, but I suppose I'm just as into Harry Potter as the next person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I helped judge the 2016 U.S. National Book Awards... and I climbed the Great Wall of China! Hopefully at least one of those can be considered amazing...

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach writing, photography, cooking (I'm an Italian food aficionado especially, but I can do everything from Chinese to Carribean–baking, too!)... any skill I have I'm happy to teach it. I love learning to cook local dishes and speak some of the languages while I'm there. I'm also generally willing to learn all that I can :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Experiences, cooking, good conversations (I'm not afraid to get deep if that's your thing!), and a bed when you come to my town!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, India, Italy, Lebanon, Nepal, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom
