Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am now traveling in Thailand, but I can offer you a couch when I will come back to Montréal in January! I am simply in a love affair with this city, so it will be a pleasure for me to share some of its treasures!

I am planning to travel around in Southeast Asia in mid-December, so I will probably use CS to connect with people.

Interests

Journalism, culture, politics, museums, breakfest, taking too much coffee, sleeping not enough, sleep in...

I like to keep myself active. I am passionate about hicking: "Ain't no mountain high enough"! I have done my first half triathlon last year, and I was in a water-polo team for 2 years. I also tried moutain climbing. I am currently taking yoga classes in Mae Sot, and i really enjoy it! I am open to any kind of new experiences!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies... I am a big fan of Stanley Kubrick

Music, my life is music.

I enjoy playing everything that can make a sound! Guitar, human beat-box, flute, accordion, african percussion. I did 7 years of classical music, playing in an orchestra. I did a tour in France when I was a teenager. Nowadays, I prefer to play in bars with friends and compose some music. I am really interested in music anthropology and about the neuropsychology of music. I think that music is a one of the most powerful and universal tool to bring people together.

Jazz influences (Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, Etta James, Brad Mehldau), manouche(Stephane Grapell, Django Reinhardt, Caravan Palace), blues (Blind Willie Johnson, Robert Johnson), classical (Chopin, Mozart, Fauré, Beethoven, and a lot more!), electronic music (Amon Tobin), arab music (Anouar Brahem), contemporary music (Gérard Grisey), musique françaises (Boris Vian, Serge Gainsbourg, Juliette Greco, Charles Aznavour, Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel), and also Fela Kuti, Cesaria Evora, Leonard Cohen, Afrodizz, Papagroove, Feist, My Brightest Diamonds, The Flaming Lips, Bobby McFerrin, Jeff Buckley, The Lost Fingers, Martha Wainwright, Patrick Watson, Ray Lamontagne...

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you:
- Some basic French.
- How to play guitar.
- Where to go in Montreal to hear some amazing local
bands.
- How to do the basic steps for dancing swing music

I also have a profound interest for the arab culture; its art, cuisine, religion, etc. J'ai également une étrange fascination pour le désert...
