About Me

PHILOSOPHY

- Believe in your lucky star. The universe will have your back if you trust it.
- Be your best friend, but watch out for that silly ego.
- Follow your heart. It has access to infinite knowledge. Your brain, not so much.
- We are social animals. Emotional nourishment is key to happiness.
- Cherish your health (mental and physical).

Before saying something, consider these questions first: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? (Socrates)

Most books condense years of human knowledge and experience. Don't miss out!

What I value most: * Freedom * Constant Learning * Friendship * Inner Peace * Authenticity

Money can only buy happiness if you spend it on experiences. The more active the experiences, the better. You can't go wrong with travelling. That being said, there's no need for travel to be expensive.

Here's one quote I like:

"There is no short-cutting to life. It took each and every situation you have encountered to bring you to the now. And now is right on time." - Asha Tyson, How I retired at 26

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to be a hospitable host, a considerate guest and, when meeting for coffee or a drink, a friendly conversationalist.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Being a member since early 2007, I'm an old-timer, I guess.

I've lost count of the actual number of CSers I met, hosted or was hosted by (30+ in all of these categories). But I'm grateful for all of these experiences.

Interests

LEARNING. Chinese culture and language. Discovering neighbourhoods on foot, photography.

As a spectator: Miniature art. Modern and traditional dance.

Badminton is my favorite sport, but I don't like keeping score. I really don't care who wins.

Pretty much all furry animals, but especially cats.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: A little bit of everything, fiction and non-fiction. If I'm learning, I'm happy. Favorite authors: Amelie Nothomb (in French), Bill Bryson.

Movies: Gone with the Wind and Amelie are my favorites. Anything by Almodovar. I don't like horror nor science-fiction movies.

Eclectic musical tastes and definitely not an expert on the topic. Chinese pop on Live365. German radio station Energy Munchen.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Experiencing the kinship of hosting and being hosted by perfect strangers. I'm so grateful CS exists! I've made so many friends over the years.

Playing with a baby lion for an hour. If you turned your back on her she would attack (& bite your ass) in an instant. A reminder that not everything is tamed here on this planet.
