Overview
About Me
I am a full time student who grew up in the lower mainland of BC, Canada. My family is almost entirely Danish and most of my relatives still live there. While growing up I was encouraged to become my own person and find my place in our world which has led to my education in an area I'm passionate about; Criminology. More specifically why people do what they do (and why this ends badly sometimes). I am excited to learn about other cultures and have fun while doing it. Unfortunately I am living in someone else's home during the completion of my degree so I am unable to welcome guests. I fully intend to return the favour in the future as this is an amazing opportunity for many people and I'd love to help someone out.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am a full time student working a relatively low paying job which allows me to save a limited amount after paying tuition. This has limited my travel opportunities and my only option is shorter trips or less costly longer trips. In addition to this I really do want to learn about the places I visit instead of just passing through. The best way to do this is by talking to the experts, locals! This year will be host to my first prolonged trip planned by myself and I look forward to meeting many new people!
Interests
At home I live within a ten minute drive of a large provincial park (Golden Ears Provincial Park, Maple Ridge, BC) which I frequently hike in. Since I was a young child values of the importance of fitness and the value of the natural beauty surrounding us were instilled. I have kept these values and realized the true importance these things have in my life. I've branched off from my simple day hikes now and begun several different solo sports and activities including multi-day backpacking trips, skiing, scuba diving and kayaking/canoeing. I am also a certified ski instructor (CASI level one) and have spent a season teaching mainly children how to ski at a local hill. In addition to physical activity I am always trying to challenge and expand my knowledge and wisdom that I have acquired in my relatively few years on this planet. I love to debate and discuss various issues, that said I know when to be respectful and keep said ideas to myself :) I look forward to hearing other peoples views and traditions while traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books
Quentin Tarantino, Back to The Future. Very good book on issues of inequality and crime in the US as well as a critique of western capitalism: The Rich Get Richer and The Poor Get Prison, Jeffrey Reiman.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Stuck in a snowstorm on a ridge at 5500 feet while backpacking with a friend. Friend collapsed and couldn't get up so I lifted him up then carried both of our 50+ pound bags to our destination. Sounds kind of cool but in reality I never should have been in that situation and in hindsight it's kind of terrifying. I learned.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'd love to get to know you, your wisdom, knowledge and whatever else we can discuss. I am always striving to learn from others and I'd love to take in the beauty of your area while talking. That said I also love quiet reflection so I have no qualms kicking back and enjoying a glass of wine with you :)
