About Me
Hi fellow couchsurfers! I'm just starting to backpack but am so excited to meet new people, have new experiences and travel to new places!
I'm from Toronto, Canada however I was born in Bergen, Norway and moved over when I was 3 yrs old. My parents met travelling the Karakoram Highway and then spent a number of years teaching in Dalian, China. So growing up I always wanted to travel the world when I was of age just like my parents did. Then when I was 14 I did a book report on a compilation of short stories from a Hazara refugee living in Australia and that introduced me and put colour to a whole swath of the world that up til that point had pretty much been a massive gray area.
Ever since I've had a great interest in learning about the world and different cultures to the point where I would compulsively read all the travel books I could get my hands on. This year I did an extra semester of highschool and then afterwards went to Bergen, Norway and worked in a student run concert venue called Hulen. After a few months of that I decided to travel but couldn’t make up my mind as to where, then I discovered the Camino which I hiked all the way up to Burgos(will complete the rest another year) and then hopped around Europe seeing some of the West, Center, and Balkans. Now I'm currently going to school In Peterborough, Canada at Trent University where I'm trying to stop myself from dropping my studies and seeing the rest of the world.
Cheers and best wishes, Isak!
