About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to come up with a mission?
ABOUT ME
I finished my BA in 2007 and headed off to Korea for a year of working. Five years later I am completing my MA and somehow managed to acquire a career.
PHILOSOPHY
Philosophy is a strong word, I have personal ideas.
In travels in Asia I've learned that there is usually a group of expats/backpackers who all hang out in a group at the same places boozing, bitching and not learning a thing about where they are. Then there's a group of locals who want nothing to do with any expats/backpackers just because they're different and different is scary and/or bad. The silent group in the middle is the one I always try to find.
Also, I'm an individualist. I know this will sound a bit cliche but it's true, I've never thought that nationality is really that important, we are all just people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I joined couchsurfing in 2008 but have only begun to use it (in Aug. 2011) so I am relatively speaking, new.
I am happy to host most people provided I am available. I would appreciate a bit of notice before you plan to arrive (say more than 72 hours). Not that I won't say yes to you otherwise, but I may not be able to host, and I feel bad if I have to turn people away. Also, even if the couch isn't available a few drinks/touring around may be, so if you need that as well please ask :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've never hosted or been a guest. I've met a few people through it but don't use it as much as I used to, but I will always try to respond and will almost always be up for at least dinner.
Interests
In Korea I love to go hiking, sample the local food and drink, travel the peninsula and take many photos. I'm also an avid baseball fan (don't worry, I can shut up about it if you are not :P)

Music, Movies, and Books
When I was a kid I read Tai-pan and I think it influenced my life more than I realised.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Angkor Wat (do I need details on that one)
Meeting a Korean professional baseball team after accidentally telling the hostess at the restaurant we went to that we were with the team they just played against. We were seated in a separated area upstairs and then in they came. We chatted to one guy who used to play for the Diamondbacks.
Hiking Taroko Gorge in Taiwan. Spotting monkeys and snakes while hiking through a subtropical canyon. The water there is a blue I can not describe. Meeting Taiwanese aborigines afterwards was also an amazing experience.
Countries I’ve Visited
Cambodia, China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United States
Countries I’ve Lived In
Australia, Canada, South Korea
