About Me

ABOUT ME

Over the last 25 years, I have lived in many different places, but Berlin is what I call home.
I like good books, good journalism, and writing. But really, I have always been fascinated by the idea of one day being able to do something more practical with my hands than holding a pen, so I guess that might be one of the reasons I started studying medicine and of course the sociologist within me liked the idea of observing all sorts of different people (and what is more of a microcosm of society than a hospital?. I like to spend my money on travel and I am a very extremist cyclist in almost all weathers (hoping to make up for all the flying I have done in my life) and I try to buy organic and fair trade as much as possible (I don't smoke and I am a vegetarian, but I am not dogmatic, if you aren't). I hate racism and discrimination and borders and passports and denied visas. No one is illegal. Of course, there's so much more, but I guess this should give you an idea.

PHILOSOPHY

The pen is mightier than the sword.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a fairly new surfer and curious. I hope I will encounter some comfy couches and friendly couch owners on my travels, and I hope to have people get a rest on my couch, once I have one to offer to some tired traveller.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have already met a lot of truly great people through CouchSurfing, so joining was a really good idea. No creeps either (yet. ;-)), in your face, Couch Surfing Critics!! ;-)

Interests

literature, coffee, good food, dance (ballet), music (e.g. radiohead, tv on the radio, radio citizen), films (mostly independent), theatre, discussions, running, sunshine (I'm from Bremen, it's the England of Germany, weatherwise...), antiracist activism, medical research and molecular biology.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Writing all this stuff about myself. I don't usually do this on websites. This is not amazing, I know, I just wanted to share this with you. haha. As I think this is a very personal question, I might answer it if you asked nicely once we met in person. But I might not, ever, at all.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to improve my French. I can teach you all sorts of trivial knowledge that might not be of any use other than striking up a conversation at a party.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Russian Federation, South Africa, Syrian Arab Republic, United Kingdom, United States
