About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to live it up as much as possible in as short a time period as possible (that being my lifetime)
ABOUT ME
Im Richard, I'm turning 29 in October and am currently working as a front end manager of a grocery store and a head trainer for the Edmonton sports club. My girlfriend and I are living together and saving up to move to Australia in October on a working holiday visa, where we plan to see and do as much as my mission statement says.
Last year me and a couple of friends went to Africa and couch surfed on our trip. We made it to France, Kenya, Tanzania, the seychelles, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa. It was one of the most eye opening and fulfilling experiences of my life and I'll never be able to say enough about it.
I lived in Europe for a year in 2011, staying in Arnhem Holland for 7 months, and Lucerne Switzerland for 5. In that time I made it to 14 countries, hosted a few times, surfed a bunch, and loved every minute of it.
I've been a bunch of places in the US, from California, Florida, Pennsylvania, Washington, and a few others. I've also been quite a few places in Canada.
In 2008, I did a 6 week trip to Japan and Thailand to go visit my brother and see the sights and sounds over there, which was amazing.
PHILOSOPHY
I gotta fever, and the only cure is more traveling, and I guess more cowbell too.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've hosted a few times before, and have surfed a bunch more than that. I travelled around Europe for a year, and met as many people as I could during that year. When I can, I'd like to do a lot of couch surfing, because the people who participate in this organization have such a great outlook on life, one that I share.
I love meeting new people and am looking forward to doing some couch surfing, as well as hosting if possible.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couch surfed so far in Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Japan, and more than my fair share back home in Canada. Looking to surf and host a lot more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One? That is an impossible question, there's too many to name to just pick one. Life itself has been amazing so far, so....being born I guess, and everything since?
How do you compare the pristine lakes and ski mountains of the Canadian Rockies, to the beautiful turquoise waters of Thailand, to a 50,000 person rave in Holland, to the majestic scenery of Norway, to to to to to. It can't be done. But I know one thing, I want, NAY! NEED more of it!
Teach, Learn, Share
If there's anything I've learnt in my short time on this beautiful planet, its that life is too short to worry about such trivial things such as the Jones', or money, or reputation, or status, or power.
Live life to the fullest, kind of the way you did and wanted to keep doing when you were a kid. No boundaries, no fears, no regrets, no drama, just life. Don't let the evil ways of society blind you into thinking that something that has NO importance in your life does. Keep questioning, keep wondering, keep learning, and most importantly, keep experiencing the beauty that our world has to offer.
