ABOUT ME
I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. My mom claims I was conceived in Bryce Canyon. Which really explains a lot about my obsession with the great outdoors...
I lived in Washington, DC for most of my life but Oahu has been home since early 2012. The ocean is my life. If you've ever fallen in love with someone, dreamt about them nightly, and felt a certain level of peace flowing through you whenever you're with them, then you know how I feel about Hawaii's warm waters. I knew from the first day I came here on vacation all those years ago that it was home.
That said, I have a pretty insatiable wanderlust. Love to travel, meet new people, observe different cultures.
I'm probably spontaneous to a fault. As long as there's not going to be any permanent damage and people don't get hurt (physically, but emotionally too), I tend to say "well, we might as well try it out." This almost always works out well. It's led me to wonderful people, hilarious stories, a new career, Hawaii, and a lot of other awesome things in my life. A life philosophy I highly recommend.
PHILOSOPHY
It's very straight-forward...
Every day when I lay down for bed, I want to have "more" than I did when I woke up that morning. Friends, good memories, great experiences, badass skills, burning questions, whatever...
Each day, better than the last in some small way. That's it.
Pretty simple, right? Yet a daily challenge :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The sunrise at Lanikai Beach my first visit to Hawaii convinced me I had found my future home.
Seeing the Rolling Stones in concert redefined what a quality show is.
Rio Carnival was probably the most fun I've ever had and Brazil might be the only place that could steal me away from Hawaii. I also forgot to bring underwear. So it was a pretty good experience to go to the mall in Rio, by myself, and purchase good underwear. I wound up with a bunch of very small, Brazilian man-thongs (I still own them).
Being the son of two New Yorkers, I've been out in that city more times than I can count. I always marvel at how anyone lives there full-time. I'm usually dead, exhausted, bankrupt, and in need of some nature by day four. That said, I will always love that place and it is the greatest city in the world.
Road tripping the California coast with my super laid back parents is a vacation I'd recommend to any family.
As much as my stoke is in surfing, there may be no feeling as peaceful as skiing empty terrain and stopping and hearing true, genuine, full silence.
Mexico: I've been a bunch of times and all I can say is that every crazy story you've heard about Mexico is probably true.
