About Me

My name is Ismael del Olmo, I am Argentinian and work as professor of History. I grew up with my parents, my 3 sisters and 1 brother in a tiny place called Tigre ("Tiger"), near the river.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will make a trip to Europe during december 2016, january and february 2017 to study History at KU Leuven. In the weekends, I would like to visit some nice towns and villages from Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, Poland and where my budget takes me!
A friend of mine told me that the best way to do it is contacting people on couchsurfing, so they would make me glimpse the cities a bit like a local.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music. I started as a punk-rocker in my teens, but then listened to The Beatles, Tom Waits, jazz (I like Chet Baker above all), blues (especially delta), and argentinian music as folklore and tango. I play a bit of drums, a bit of guitar, a bit of trombone. I can't, under no circumstances, sing.
Also, I love books, from novels to science-fiction to non-fiction to history.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know if I can take credit from it, but luckily me and a couple of friends survived a big storm on top of a hill in Córdoba (Argentina), with fog, pouring rain, lightnings and all. After hours of dark, we ended up eating what it seemed to us the best goulash in the world in a tiny restorant at the foot of the hill, happy of being alive!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching History, learning about the places I visit and the people I meet, and sharing good food, any kind of wine and better conversation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think I can share a good time, I like to talk and most of all to listen. I am curious, which I think is great if one likes to travel and meet people.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Italy, Scotland, Uruguay
