Hello/Hola/Merhaba! I'm Cem, a 22-year-old student from Turkey. I study electrical & electronics engineering in my hometown where east meets west, Istanbul! I have just come back from my semester abroad in Southeast Asia and I had a beautiful time there thanks to many amazing people and spectacular places! Now, I set a new goal for myself, to spend a month in Spain to meet Spanish people, immerse myself in its culture and improve my Spanish skills.

I enjoy listening to people's life stories very much - there is something to learn from absolutely everyone. I strive to be as open minded as possible and exposure to new point of views definitely helps me in this quest!

For the time being, I plan to do couchsurfing exclusively in Spain as the Spanish friends I made along the way have intrigued my interest in this beautiful country.

Music is an essential part of my daily life, I usually listen to chill and grooving pieces but the genre I listen to depends mainly on how my mood swings during the day. I like watching all kinds of movies that keep me on the edge - otherwise there is a good chance that I fall asleep! I also like to watch documentaries about humanity and nature. Check Yann Arthus-Bertrand's work for some inspiration!

Kindle has transformed my reading habits, and now I read much more frequent than before! I like reading non-fiction books about human psychology and behaviour, as well as history. I also read fictional books that are based on true stories. Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari and Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts are my current favorites.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I climbed Mount Rinjani in Indonesia - an active volcano that is 3700 meters high, located in Lombok, an island next to Bali. The scenery was so stunning, it was worth all the hardships! Check out my photos for more!
