Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Sightseeing by itself doesn't interest me. I feel nothing when I look at some world-known landmark, I feel nothing when I just move from one touristic place to another. I need to feel the soul of the city - and I do it through communication and interaction with the locals. I perceive the spirit of a city through its people, and CouchSurfing is a great means for that.
In other words - if some people travel to cities to watch place they've heard a lot about (seen in movies, known from books and songs) - I travel to know people and feel the city through our joint walk.

In St. Petersburg, I used to show the city to travelers, hosted my friends and friends of my friends or some travelers from CouchSurfing. I can't explain in words those great feelings, when you see people's admiration or surprise when they see Peterhof for the first time, or Grand Maket of Russia, or separating bridges across the Neva river... I love showing people the city from different, sometimes even contrasting, sites :)

Books... Except for few really disgusting books that I've read, all of them had something to catch me on. 99% of the time I read world's classics, 1% - anything, like a book on psychology, or some modern author.
I prefer series - a movie is too short for me to start sympathizing anyone or realize what's going on. The Big Bang Theory, House M.D., Sherlock (BBC), Mentalist, Muhtesem yuzil, Dexter, Black Books, IT Crowd, Suits, Lost, Prison Break, Once upon a time, Grimm, Friends, Battlestar Galactica.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I walked in snow in bikini. And this year I tried icy waters of Baikal - that was amazing for me! :)

Amazing things I've seen:
Snow-white travertines of Pamukkale (Turkey).
Huge red rock archs of Legzira in Morocco.
Jungle mountains of Santo Antao (Cabo Verde).
