About Me

Hi! I’m Issa, a university graduate of English Language and Literature from Birzeit University. I was born in Ramallah Palestine and grew up here. It’s a small city where everybody knows everyone else, and I’m ready to get out and explore the world!

I’ve recently started my own translation business. I am also working for an NGO called AM Qattan Foundation which focuses on youth.

Unfortunately due to complicated travel rules for Palestinians I wasn’t able to travel much when I was younger and hope to make up for the lost time now. I got the opportunity to work with a group of people from Denmark making a documentary here in Palestine, and they invited me to Denmark twice last year. It was a really nice experience seeing a culture different from my own and I hope to get to know more cultures through future trips!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Traveling internationally is still new to me and I want to get to know new cities and the backpacker life with locals from each place. I also love meeting people from other cultures since I don’t have that opportunity too often in Ramallah. The tourism here isn’t like other big cities yet!

Music, Movies, and Books

I don’t read too often, but some novels that I like include The Color Purple and Their Eyes Were Watching. I also liked the W.E.B. DuBois story The Soul of a Black Folk.

For movies I usually watch action adventure films. I like The Mountain between Us and John Wick.

For music, I listen to some Rock and some Rap from the US and Europe. I can also share some good Palestinian songs with people!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve had the opportunity to work on documentary films with a Danish company as well as work with some film workshops in Amman, Jordan.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Jordan, Malta, Netherlands, Sweden, Tunisia
