ABOUT ME

I'm a 30-something single mom of a teenager who has decided to make the most of life instead of just living. In the past year I've started school, quit smoking, applied for a study abroad program, and am currently in a fitness program.

I have social phobia, which has been very limiting for me. I'm currently learning German, and can see that my ability to speak & understand is limited by my discomfort with speaking with and interacting with strangers.

It's time for a change. The only way to conquer social phobia is to keep putting myself out there, ignoring the discomfort. Eventually, I hope to not only be comfortable in social situations, but also find them enjoyable!

PHILOSOPHY

My mother was only a couple years older than I am now when she died. She was full of regrets, and said she would have lived her life differently if she had known how little time she had.

I've decided to honor her memory by living my life, not just trudging along with the daily grind. I have hopes, goals, dreams, and aspirations. Other people's expectations of me cannot be permitted to hold me back. I have only one life to live, and the choices of what to do or not do are mine.

Living my life my way, while doing no harm, is my philosophy in a nutshell.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This year I plan to travel to Michigan and New York in the States, then take a ship to Southampton & Hamburg, and finally traveling through Stuttgart to Tuebingen.

Couchsurfing my way through this journey is how I plan to participate, sharing my experiences and learning from others' experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Other than helping arrange a Couchsurfing experience for my sister, I have no experience at all. I expect to change that this summer!

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

My one full bookcase only holds about half of my books, and I have even more on my Kindle. Too many to list! I enjoy fiction (crime, thriller, mystery, political mystery) and non-fiction (2nd language acquisition, history, biographies)

Love mystery, thriller, comedy, and drama movies, not so much a fan of horror. Enjoy medical and crime drama TV shows.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've seen is the Blue Angels perform at an air show.

Teach, Learn, Share

Language exchange- totally! I'm learning German & Spanish, my teen is learning Japanese, and I plan to begin studying Russian soon. I'm a future polyglot!

I'm a decent cook, am rather successful with raising orphaned kittens, and I can fix almost any virus/trojan/malware computer problem. I'm also learning algebra. I'm happy to share any knowledge I have!
