ABOUT ME

I try to be the way I think I should be: conscientious, kind, useful and curious. I love good conversation that can meander from thought exercises on what-ifs to pop culture to history to mindless tangents - usually with wit and bad jokes. Part extrovert / part introvert, part geek / part socialite, part awkward / part charming. I can appreciate the finer things in life but prefer not to spend a lot. Music is a huge part of my life (listening to recorded or live music) though I haven't learned any instruments. I'm always trying to figure out how travel and my course through life intersect and overlap.

PHILOSOPHY

There is so much to learn through meeting new people in new places with new perspectives. The more I travel, the more I figure out who I am, what I want, and how I can do my part to improve the human experience.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I'm home, I'm looking to meet interesting people for conversation and seeing what the city has to offer. Could be a comedy show, drinks at a cool bar, an educational event, or anything in between.

When I'm traveling, I'm looking for new faces and new friends, for places to stay, for companions for drinks. I'll provide conversation, stories, hopefully entertainment, and possibly cook. I also can help clean your place as part of my thank you for your hospitality if you want.

I'm always up for meeting up for coffee/drinks and sharing travel stories, learning about others and their cultures, and helping out on local info as much as possible. If there is a bed or couch to offer, I will.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My partner -and current travel partner- is someone who once surfed my couch. CS has connected me to a few couches and heaps more travel mates. I've shared about 5000km of road trips with people through the community.
I have extensive experience crashing on the couches and floors of family, friends, friends of friends, and once the sister of a friend of a friend.
When I really want to get to know a city, I love a host who is up for going out and showing me around, who knows the city and can give me advice.

Music: The amount of free concerts in Melbourne taught me that I can love everything from rock and indie to hip hop to jazz, country, bluegrass, folk, and classical. Some of the acts I love are Firewater, Seth Sentry, 2 Skinnee J's, Local H, Danielle Ate the Sandwich, Garbage, Gyroscope, The Naked and the Famous, Kenna, and so very many more.
If someone asks me what music I want them to put on, the answer is, "Something I haven't heard before."
If you are trying to put on music for a group, have one person select the music off someone else's mp3 player.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Skocjan Caves, Slovenia. There is one part of the caves where you walk into the top end of a room that is 1km long and 100m high with a river raging through the bottom. The floodlights are all hazy with river spray. I'm not sure I've ever seen something that literally took my breath away before that.

I know a bit about a surprising amount of topics. I can provide trivia and knowledge in almost any conversation. Also, music and science.
I love learning about anything that the person talking is passionate about. If you really love the finer details of Hungarian politics or how to bake the perfect souffle, please, educate me.
