About Me

Hello! I am a traveler, avid meditator and writer in love with life and adventure. I first came out to Nairobi for a writers fellowship and then decided to stay and travel! I have been to Nigeria and Ethiopia, since I’ve been here, and now I’m headed back to Nairobi to say goodbye to the friends I’ve made along the way before I leave Kenya. I’m looking to meet like minded people, people who love life and wellness. Currently, I’m also working as a freelance writer and finishing up a few creative projects.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m couchsurfing because a yoga instructor told me this is a safe and great way to meet people. I am definitely trying something new, participating in this platform, but overall I’ve heard that it’s a great way to meet people you may not get the chance to meet. I’m eager (at this time in my life) to meet people who are passionate, caring, adventurous and care about their health.

Music, Movies, and Books

These days I’m liking a lot of mood music for sound healing. I love great soundtracks, the last one I was listening to was the soundtrack from To Kill A Mockingbird. I love anything soul and jazz and blues. Nina Simone is one of my favorites. I also love more experimental styles. I’ve also been listening to artists like Lura, and Salif Keita. Last week I was listening to eighties music and Phil Collins. Really it varies.

I’m not watching too many movies these days, but I really liked Aladdin. My favorite tv show is Grace and Frankie.

I’ve been listening to audio books, but the latest book I read is Conversations with God, by Neale Donald Walsh and I’m listening to Leap of Perception by Penny Pierce.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve left the U.S and traveled for nearly a year.

Teach, Learn, Share

I’ve had my formal educational training in teaching, social justice, Africana Studies and theater (this is covering my BA and MA). I love giving back. I was able to teach a movement and writing workshop in Mombasa which was really transformative. These days I am focused on wellness and writing. I can teach these topics, and share what I know. I’m happiest when it’s an exchange of ideas between people desiring to learn from each other’s experiences. Here is more of my writing in case you’re interested about what I write about these days.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my meditation and writing practice with hosts. Meditation has truly saved my life, and I’m always happy to support anyone who wants to feel better. I’m also learning more about alternative healing practices such as acupressure and reiki, so if you’re interested in this, I could offer my skills. Finally, for those interested in healing around ancestry and family, I lead workshops and write specifically about this!

Countries I’ve Visited
