CURRENT MISSION
Hay que conocer el mundo. To get to know the world. Bit by bit.
ABOUT ME
I was taught to travel since my childhood and to be independent. I work hard to indulge myself with trips. Going to the movies is therapy for me; it is something that I have to do at least once a week. I like listening to music, I have too many CDs on my car. Recently I bought myself a iPod to see if I can organized my music. I've found You Tube in the internet and I amazed with the thing I've found and keep founding.
PHILOSOPHY
I have a recurrent thought: planning traveling routes.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Many years ago I was a tour guide in the Old San Juan and I met a spanich guy in a tour. I told him I was going in few months to Spain and he invited me to go and visit him. I called him my friend of 8 hours and 3 letters. That was back then when Internet wasn't as available. I stayed in his home for a week and had a great time with him and his friends.

Algo increíble que he hecho
This april I went to a conference in Baltimore. I couldn't get a direct flight so I flew to NYC and then took a bus to Downtown Baltimore. A young lad ask if the sit next to me was available and I told him it was. We were seated one next to the other for a couple of hours without talking. He listened to music and talked by his cell phone meanwhile I was trying to sleep. After a while he started to move in his seat and from time to time he would looked or stared at me. As my friends say, I could recognized the signals; he wanted to talk. He offered me gum and I took it and started a conversation. He was from Pakistan ; he told many things; he even told me about his girlfriends. Then he asked me many things, where I was from, age, marital status, children, after a while I thought vaguely that he was hitting on me. He told me that his stepmom was from Puerto Rico and that Puerto Rican women are so beautiful! I guess he wasn't because he was almost half my age. He told me that his family was going to pick him up that maybe they could give me a ride to my hotel. I told him not to worry because I could take a taxi. When we got to the station he ask me to go with him to meet his parent. I agreed and went to his parent car to say hi or whatever. When we got to the car and the parent saw me they gave a weird look. Of course I was a stanger. He introduced me as "She is from Puerto Rico". The stepmom and me exchange few phrases about our country and then she offered to give me a ride to my hotel. Of course I say yes at the end she was from Lares!; a town where my father has a uncle. They took me downtown to my hotel. The father made a phone call so someone gave him directions. And they delivered me savely on a sunday at almost midnight to my small hotel. I told this to my friends and they call me crazy: "Indira this is the time when you come up with an excuse; anything not to get in a car with stangers". They would ask me why and I said "because she (the stepmom) was from Lares". Things like this teach you are still many good people around; even in places where hitchiking is not safe.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
I think that in general everyone is way more paranoid with strangers that ones should. When we are little not to thrust a stranger is a good defense mechanism parent teach us to protect ourselves. But when ones grows up and get to go around and meet people in different places. Ones have to realize that there's many regular Joes like oneself. Just going around the world having fun without doing any harm to no one.
