About Me

I believe there are many ways to live deliberately and these are probably all equally good, but very different, and this is what really confuses people. I think that an imagined world is as real as any real world, and imagined worlds are recursively created through meetings with other imagined worlds, that take on the labels of books, music, etc, etc. I am probably less interested in politics and social issues. I like sports, and dancing tango, and I want to get more into music and percussion instruments and especially those that were expressly designed for seemingly non-musical purposes, such as meditation. I like being with people who are uncompromising about what they think they can get out of life, and who haven't been desensitized either because they are lucky or because they are resilient. I like things whose power to effect you is un-karmic, as in very disproportionate to what you put in. Like undeserved presents. I'm really interested in the unconscious, individual and collective, and that strange feeling of being aware of something even if no part of your mind is focused on it. And dreams, mythology, religion which all seem to be a part of it. I like how different people can be from one another, where how different this is is something we can't really talk about. I’m currently living in Macclesfield, near Manchester, working as a systems engineer on a telescope project.

PHILOSOPHY

"I consider reality to be the last thing one need concern oneself about, for it is, tediously enough, always present, while more beautiful and necessary things demand our attention and care. Reality is what one must not under any circumstances be satisfied with, what one must not under any circumstances worship and revere, for it is accidental, the offal of life. And it is in no way to be changed, this shabby, consistently disappointing and barren reality, except by our denying it and proving in the process that we are stronger than it is." - Hermann Hesse (with addition by me of some tongue-in-cheekness)
