Hi! I'm Emily. Is it cheesy to say that I'm excited to meet you here and hope to meet you in person soon? Well if so, call me cheesy...because I'm saying it and it's true!

In July 2019, I took the plunge into Couchsurfing when I started a 50-state road trip, conducting interviews and research across the United States. I had this big idea that people were more alike than different...and I wanted to prove that by showing stories from small towns and large cities along the way. I'm a freelance multimedia journalist (photographer, filmmaker, writer, podcaster, entrepreneur) by trade and I LOVE my job. When I'm not working, I love to read, knit, and play pool poorly. I love cold beer and good wine, spending time close to the water, and making new friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved across the country to a city sight unseen back in 2016. I had never spent more than a day or two on the East Coast, but I boarded a flight to Washington DC in August with just an internship and a goal of figuring it out.
