About Me

Hi, my name is JC. I go by JC Tevez on social media (long story that I'd love to share if we meet!) but I'm originally from San Diego, California, U.S.A. but moved to the Philippines in 2015 to do the proverbial Filipino-American 'discover my roots' campaign. Although time and life got in the way of that, this 2024 I plan to FINALLY discover the country that I now call home.

For work, I became a Radio DJ here in the Philippines for a very popular radio station in Metro Manila called Monster RX 93.1 where I did that for 7 years, and am now a full-time freelancer (Hosting, Voice Over Work, Podcasting, and anything else that helps foot the bills). For verification you can check my IG haha @itsmejaysee

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am planning on WALKING the entire Philippines, starting with North Luzon. I would love to meet people along the way and (admittedly) save a few pesos/dollars along the way. I also think meeting people from different parts of the Philippines would be fantastic. Walking to meet all walks of life, in a nutshell

Music, Movies, and Books

Tough to say, but I guess for the purpose of me signing up for Couchsurfing, the movies that inspired me for this journey of mine are: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Into The Wild (minus the dying in Alaska part), Yes Man, and The Kings of Summer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Packed up my life in the States, quit my job, sold my car/belongings, and move to the Philippines to start a whole new life with no career prospects in mind. Since then (2015) I was able to make a name for myself in the industry I work in, and I haven't looked back since

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to Learn about the local cuisine and sites to see in the areas I'm staying in. I would also like to learn on my journey, ways to improve the navigability of the Philippines via land (especially on foot) and would hope to someday create an action plan to make backpacking/thru-hiking/camping more accessible in the country

What I Can Share with Hosts

I feel like I can share a pretty unique world view (pretty much everyone can because we as individuals always have stories that no one else in the world has). I'll be backpacking this whole trip, and be going on foot, so I'll do my best to bring food and anything useful that I pick-up along the way!

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, United Kingdom, Viet Nam
