About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become. To better.

ABOUT ME

I love meeting new people. Everyone has so many stories inside them, and I find hearing and sharing them to be one of the best experiences we can have as lives cohabitating on this same drifting sphere. I often feel lost on it, but there's something about the moments when I feel the most lost which makes me feel the most at home.

PHILOSOPHY

Experience as much and meet as many people as possible. I worry sometimes this conflicts with ever building anything deep in this life, but I like to think I have enough time to float now, anchor later, if that becomes what I think I should do.

Interests

Interests...well, I travel a lot. It's my biggest vice. I like to write. I practice Zen meditation with a group that has centers around the world, so I can practice with my local group but also with new people when I travel. Exercise is a big deal, as I'm in the constant process of trying to maintain a 140 pound weight loss. Spicy foods. That's almost a religion to me. Really, discovering any kind of new food is like seeing a color I didn't even know was part of the spectrum. Any kind of new experience. I volunteer a couple nights a week helping teach English to Latin American immigrants here, also in the hopes of improving my Spanish. They're doing a much better job of learning than I am.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to India and Nepal for two weeks in October 2011 on a pilgrimage through the Buddhist holy sites. In one small town I met some local kids who took me to a small orphanage. In a tiny, hot, brick room the kids sang me some songs they'd be learning. It was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard.
