About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See as much of the world as possible before I'm 30.

ABOUT ME

I'm a queer, feminist, political activist and artist. I am an anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist. When I'm at home, I spend a lot of time painting, writing, making jewelry, repurposing found objects, cooking yummy vegan treats, and playing music on piano and ukulele. I went to film school, and am a freelance photographer and writer.

PHILOSOPHY

I am an anarcha-feminist, vegan, and artist. I believe in treating everyone with dignity and kindness and helping out in any way that I can. I am deeply intuitive and trust that the universe will pull me towards the places, people, and events that I am meant to be a part of. I think everything is a teaching experience and that so long as adventure is welcomed with love, life will be filled with happiness, not fear.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My partner and I are happy to host when we are not traveling and we love to meet people as we travel! We have hosted several lovely CSers. We welcome dogs into our space and love to show our guests around. We're open to lots of kinds of animals, so don't be afraid to ask.

I love to meet up with people passing through who have similar interests. If you enjoy vegan restaurants or thrift shopping, I would certainly love to meet up with you and show you the spots. If I'm passing through and you want to show me the gems, I'd love that, too! I have a car and really enjoy taking people around to more interesting places that are kind of low on the radar, too.

As a guest, I don't expect to be shown around, but love to get to know my hosts. I like to make art together, or cook meals to show my appreciation. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met the most interesting and wonderful friends through CS! I've met everyone from physicists to artists to cyclists, and can't wait to meet even more.

Interests

I love to make films, paintings, pictures, books, and music. I'm very passionate about traveling and getting to meet all kinds of people from all over the world. I do a lot of thrifting/ repurposing of clothes and dresses. I'm very passionate about activism and write a good deal of zines on various topics, including body politics, gender theory, and anti-oppression. I also really enjoy cooking, putting on variety shows, performing burlesque, and doing editorial photo shoots.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favorite directors are William Klein, Francois Ozon, Alexander Jodorowsky, Dusan Makavejev, Rainer Fassbinder, and John Waters, among many others.

I read lots of books and it would be impossible to list a favorite, but Nabokov and Miranda July will always be high up there. One of my favorite abstract novels is "Notable American Women" by Ben Marcus. I enjoy a lot of small press literature, as well.

I listen to a huge variety of music and again, it would be difficult to list all of the artists that inspire me. I enjoy a mixture of folk, indie pop/dance, and anything retro and kitschy. I maintain a blog dedicated to campy disco performances and really enjoy it. I know all of the words in Leonard Cohen's discography by heart, and Buffy St. Marie is my idol. I love Dark Dark Dark and Zola Jesus a ton, as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have made many trips coast-to-coast in the US- the back highways and little detours have placed me in some of the most desolate and breathtaking locations imaginable. I could never begin to place one over another!

I spent one month in Quintana Roo, Mexico, exploring Playa del Carmen, Merida, and everywhere in between. I loved it so much and everyone was so kind. It's been such a beautiful experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always happy to share info about vegan cooking, any of my artistic/language skills, activism, chickens and dogs!
