About Me

CURRENT MISSION

see as much of the world as I can on two wheels as well as meeting as many different people

ABOUT ME

I am well into the second half of my life and I want to live large every moment that I have left on this earth. I have traveled to many places around the world hunting game and fishing and now I am riding my motorcycle. I have crossed the USA four times coast to coast and South to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I also enjoy solo runs or dream rides as i sometimes refer to them. 2011 came to an end with my health and bike intact.A good year for certain. Its now Sept. Although I have many or should i say a few goals still left one of which is to get 100,000 miles on this bike. I hit that mark in 2013. 2012 was a dificult year ending with a divorce but life goes on for sure. I spent many hours on the motorcycle reflecting on my life and in doing so i racked up over 25,000 miles from April to October. Here I am in the spring of 2014 with a healthy outlook on what is ahead and in a few weeks I will be off traveling the USA and looking for new friends and a couch for sure. Well 2014 came and went and do to health reasons I was grounded from bike riding.
Now 2015 and I have the longest trip of my life planned on two wheels. L
I will leave home on the 8th of June and will return on the 30th July. I plan on a run North to South (key west) then west to Seattle then north to Watson lake in the Yukon turn around back through Calif. across a southern route and home. Should b e about 15,000 miles. Hope to see some of you along the way.
UPDATE 2016 well I made it to 70 years of age, sold my business, bought a place in florida for the winter and living the dream as the good lord has given me my health and ability to ride my bike for another season. This year I hope to log 20,000 miles with two long distance trips out west. Last year I had to end my run to Watson lake in the Yukon by turning around in Edmonton alb. so hopefully 2016 will get me all the way to Fairbanks and safely back. I will be looking for many couches along the way. stay tuned.
The 2017 riding season has begun. I rode up from Florida on the 13th May to my old stomping ground in Virginia. The second of June had me flying to Oregon to pick up a rental bike from eagle rider. My son and I left Portland on the third and in six days went south to California then east through Nevada then north through Idaho into Montana and then back East through Washington state then south to Portland...2400 miles. In July we fly to Alaska and do a week of riding. At that point my son and I will have visited a Harley Davidson Dealer in every state together on two wheels. The only exception is Hawaii which we plan on doing in October. Fly ,ride, and back home all in 48 hours. In between I will be crisscrossing the USA looking for a bed or two along the way. 2018 & 2019 were short riding seasons with zero couchsurfing events. My son and I opted for either hotels,B&B'S or Airbnb BUT I have to admit none of those lodging experiences matched my many unique and satisfying overnights with the couchsurfing community. Now at 75 years of age I want to give it one more riding season coast to coast beginning in May of 2021 so be on the lookout for my request. I have a thousand stories I'll be only to happy to share with you should you accept me as your overnight guest traveling the highway just one more time

PHILOSOPHY

Its all about the dash enjoy life to its fullest without having a negative impact on anyones else's dreams. You enter this world alone and leave alone and spend the time in between trying to find something/someone to believe in and hold on to along the way. ALWAYS BEAR IN MIND THAT ALL MEN DIE, BUT NOT ALL MEN LIVE. THE SIZE OF YOUR FUNERAL WILL BE DICTATED BY THE WEATHER.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have donated a bit of money to the cause in the past but that practice ended when the site went commercial and no longer needed donations and other than that have utilized the network of members for the purpose of putting a roof over my head while i travel on my bike around and across the USA.In most cases it has been for one night as i am not looking to homestead.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Starting traveling across the USA in August of 2010 and have shared a night with quite a few different members and all have been wonderful experience. I look forward to many more visits as I continue to travel the world on two wheels. All the experiences have been fun as well as educational. it is just amazing how many good people there are on this earth willing to share a meal a room and a smile and ask nothing in return.

Music, Movies, and Books

fav. books or should I say author Robert Ruark, movies I enjoy are ones with multiple story lines but not to much blood and guts. Seen enough of that in real life. Horror movies scare me even today. music almost anything Country or 60's early 70's. As far as movies ones that come to mind are: the Graduate, My cousin Vinny, Butch Cassidy &the Sundance kid to name just a few.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have thought about it and don't really know where to start and I am certainly not ready to end. Still have a lot I wish to see and do in what I consider my final 10. if i had to choose one amazing thing i guess it would be that after all of my life experiences i am still here above the grass. i can only assume there is more to come for me in this lifetime. i figure i still got another 7-10 years on the bike.

Teach, Learn, Share

In the past 75 years+ I have traveled the world with my first trip across the Atlantic in 1945 from England. in the 70's extensive travel throughout the world chasing my many dreams with a rife in hand. For the past 20 years i have concentrated on riding my motorcycle where ever it would take me in North America. My goal is to ride this bike of mine till it hits a 100,000 miles which I accomplished in June 2013.
Now I am riding a almost new road king and God willing I will get that one to 100,000 before I hang up the helmet. Since the road king I've tossed my leg over an ultra limited and an ultra classic both of course bearing the harley logo.
