About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard from a really close friend that by traveling you meet a bunch and with them are the stories of their lives. They share with you, where they come from, what it is to live there. Everyone identifies with specific culture and traditions, the thrill of meeting a complete stranger and being able to experience what they do is something that really does capture my interest.

I spend a lot of time thinking of myself and living through others, but there's a genuine thrill in living first-hand is so unique to that person.

Las Vegas is heavy on tourism, a lot of international travelers stop by here. but I've never been out in the world myself, so I'm just looking to change that.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I'm definitely more into artists that not a lot of people have listened to and that helps in having more specific conversations about why this music speaks for me.

Weird Interesting Artists - Stereolab (My favorite music group of all time) and Jon Brion.
Acid Jazz/Funk - Roy Ayers, Jamiroquai, Twilight
Bossanova/Samba - Astrud Gilberto, Joao Gilberto, Marcos Valle
Chill - Mac Demarco, Toro y Moi, The Internet, Quadron
Hip=Hop - Earl Sweatshirt, MF DOOM

Movies - Paul Thomas Anderson is the best director hands-down! So check out all of his films. Charlie Kaufman is also a brilliant mind so check things out by him. Spike Jonze is brilliant. Judd Apatow is the king of comedy films. Adam Mackay is right there next too him.

Books - I love philosophy, so I love a good read that has you contemplate your life and values. The kind that know how to tickle your brain

My number one pick is not a book: What's it Like to be a Bat? - Thomas Nagel

Le Petit Prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
The Prince - Machiavelli
Plato and a Platypus Walk Into a Bar - Thomas Wilson Cathcart & Daniel Martin Klein

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like having a good insightful talk about life, getting to know a person based on what they actually feel.
JOKES! Because laughter does make things feel better.

Oh and puns. It's been a while, but if I really am exercising my brain, I can bust out some clever wordplay

(Disclaimer: Said wordplay may or may not bust out into some off-the-top-of-the-head raps and freestyles)
