I'm doing an MA in Mandarin Chinese because I apparently like to get in way over my head.

I mostly go around with my headphones on and a book in my hand, paying extra insurance against being hit by a car in traffic. If by some horrible accident I don't have those on me, I'll strike up a conversation with somebody in the queue or in the seat next me on a plane/train.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because some very nice people told me it's a great way to meet other very nice people much like them. I mostly travel alone, so any new VNP in a new town would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I've never done this.

I kind of wish I could start by hosting, but living in Shanghai makes that almost impossible. At least it is for me at the moment. But I used to have friends and friends of friends crash on my couches before, and that was brilliant.

I would like to learn how to whistle other stuff too.

Share all the whistling! But only for like ten minutes because it quickly gets annoying. :)
