About Me
CURRENT MISSION
build up my references by hosting some interesting people in August while I have an extra furnished room to spare
ABOUT ME
I was travelling in the Middle East with an Australian girl and asked her to take a picture of me with a camel. She looked at me like an idiot and asked why anyone would want a picture of a camel. I guess in Australia they have lots of them. But to me it was exotic.
Then I came home to Philly and saw an Asian tourist taking a picture of a pigeon. I've seen so many pigeons that I never really stopped to look at one. But when I did I noticed they have this beautiful, reflective sheen around their heads. And I could totally see how someone would want a picture. You just had to look at them through the eyes of a traveler to see it.
So that's what I like about this idea of hosting couch surfers in Philadelphia. I could let you crash in my front room and tell you about some of the things I love in Philly. And, in so doing, maybe I would find even more things to love about it for myself. I'd also love to hear some of your stories about the places you've been to. As if my bucket list wasn't abysmal enough already. :P
PHILOSOPHY
Merleau-Ponty, without quite so much of the Marxism.
Interests

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Got lost on a cheap Chinese motorcycle in Central Turkey and ended up camping out in a cave for the night.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could probably go on about American Constitutional law for longer than you could ever care to listen. And I'm a big time history nerd with a special love of Middle Eastern history. I also figured out how to get around the New York Times paywall, but I'm shy about sharing this on a profile because if too many people figure it out they will catch on and fix the issue.
In terms of learning, I've always found it really interesting to hear people's take on geo-political issues from outside the US. I just like hearing things from a different point of view.
