About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Conquer myself by mastering something.

ABOUT ME

I plan to live to be 100 years old. I love stand-up comedy. Listen to and play music near-constantly. I feel that the teachers who chose the right career are people for whom being around children keeps them young.

I'm a big reader, and I LOVE movies. Hate texting.

PHILOSOPHY

Positive energy builds things up....negative energy tears things down. Being angry makes you suffer, not the person that you're mad at, and having them suffer wouldn't make you feel better anyhow.

Be positive about everything you can! It's a good life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting, surfing, tour guide recommendations, the works!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted some excellent people from South America, Germany, Norway, Netherlands, Russia, and elsewhere in Canada. I surfed for the first time in July 2012, in NYC, went back many times before moving there for 2 years. Now I have surfed all over Europe.

Interests

Reading, exercise, movies, plants, psychology, visual art.

Language, educational theory, observation vs interpretation, social activism.

Being a citizen...that is, spending effort to make my community a better place.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Jonathan Livingston Seagull (Richard Bach)..my favouritest book ever...also Ender's Game (Orson Scott Card), Badass (Ben Thompson), Zen in the Art of Archery (Eugen Herrigel).

Music: A to Z.

Movies: Star Wars, The Godfather, old Bond films, Memento, The Darjeeling Limited.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I played Rhapsody in Blue as the soloist with an orchestra a few times.

I saw Bobby McFerrin perform a solo concert.

That's two things...I wrecked it! Sorry.

Teach, Learn, Share

Schizophrenia never results in multiple personalities.

If you want a perfect high-five experience, aim to hit the other person's elbow. If they do the same, you'll get a great high-five every time!

If you say "Rise Up Lights," you'll be doing a pretty good imitation of an Australian saying "Razor Blades." And if you say "Whale Oil Beef Hooked," you'll be doing a pretty good Irish accent.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Advice on any subject! I can teach you how language works, how to play music, how to cook, how to relieve that sore wrist, how to restore the finish on wood furniture, or the best things to pack for a backpacking trip.

I know all about New York City, after living there for 2 years recently. So if it's on your list, ask me for tips! I am also a good resource for London, Toronto, and Montreal.
