I'm a college student who finally figured out that travelling doesn't need loads of money neither is it about staying holed up in the hotel all summer. My name is Ivy and I'm a 23 yr old student currently living, studying and working in Nairobi, Kenya.
I consider myself super outgoing, open minded and free spirited. I'm also really fun and know how to let my hair down. I love travelling and discovering new places. I've currently started birding and botany( study of plants) and i do that pretty much in my spare time.
I'm a sucker for open markets and delis. the smell of fresh food gives me such joy!
I'm an open book so there's loads to learn about me once we meet.

I wanted to make new friends on my new journey into mostly solo travel and to also get an insight of a place from a locals perspective( Isn't that the best?) I've hosted before in the past(not on couch surf tho) and it was an amazing experience to be able to meet new people and show them my city from my point of view and my eyes. I'm hoping to meet fellow travelers and hosts on the way who will share their journey with me as well. I also hope that I will one day be able to host.

Music: My music is a fusion of the old school and the new kids. But they have one thing in common: Soul
I listen to a lot of Nina Simone, Fela Kuti, Chaka Khan, Joy Division, Phoenix, Bob Marley, Wu-Tang clan, Kendrick Lamar, Andhim.

Books: I read a lot on African literature both fiction and non fiction. Fave authors include: Chimamanda, Alice Walker, Chinedu, Margaret Ogola
Favourite book of all times: The color purple. It was raw and intentional

Film: I watch a lot of film so my taste in this particular category is diverse. My top 5 though are Blame it on Rio, Pulp Fiction, un petit mort, Shawshank Redemption and A bronx tale.
