About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live to die.

ABOUT ME

I am a little bit of everything all at once. I am a sixth generation Floridian. I've grown up in Charlotte and loved every bit of it. I was homeschooled all the way through high school. (You probably have a stereotypical sheltered, socially awkward person in mind... I'll try and prove you wrong.) I volunteered in Newport, Wales for a year. I love being active and enjoy the great outdoors. I will be an aunt as of September 2013! I love any occasion that requires formal dress. I enjoy working on projects and don't mind getting my hands dirty. I am a minimalist. I have a cat and am self admittedly the crazy cat lady. I am a huge advocate for good dental hygiene. I am pretty laid back. For having such a short name I probably have more nicknames than you do. I love being near any body of water whether that be a lake, ocean, or pool. I love warm weather and have grown to love very cold weather too. I love to travel, but I imagine you guessed that since I am on this website.

PHILOSOPHY

"There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love advocating for CouchSurfing! Its quite a big step for some people to branch out and stay with someone who they have never meet before and trust the integrity of the couchsurfing host. The biggest way I participate in couchsurfing apart from hosting, surfing, and networking is to spread the positive experience couchsurfing brings to those who are willing to take part in it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted lots of people, stayed with lots of people, and traveled with lots of people, but unfortunately few are association with couchsurfing. Most of my hosting and "surfing" have been through networking with friends and living abroad in the UK.

Interests

I find people interesting and love hearing about people's life journeys. I like to hear about different joys and struggles in life. I like to know about people's dreams and aspirations and what steps they have taken to accomplish them.

You would find me spending most of my free time doing one of two extremes: either tucked away at home simply enjoying the comforts of home or out and about spending time with friends, trying new things and exploring new places.

...or a combination of the two. Having new people in my home:)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like just about any genre of movie. Once I see something I typically am not bothered about seeing it again.
I love classic literature(Anything Mark Twain, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Count of Monty Cristo, The Idiot, Tolkien).
As with movies, I like just about any genre of music. Once I have listend to somthing long enough it typically grows on me. (Regina Spekter, ColdPlay, Adele, Florence and the Machines, Jason Mraz, ABBA, Phil Wickem)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first taste of learning to appreciate different people and places came from my parents who dreamed big for our family to take a trip out west. They probably spent 7-9 years planning, saving and dreaming for the right time to take our family on this trip. The year my older sister graduated high-school we flew out to see the major western landmarks. To this day it is a family highlight that we continue to reminisce about.

From a young age my parents have instilled in me a love and appreciation for diversity. They encouraged us to draw out people from different backgrounds and engage with different cultures.
My parent's passion and patience for planning that trip has been an inspiration for me to save up, dream big, and embark upon my own expeditions.
